My dog has sudden breathing issues at night, like a heart attack.

I am sorry to hear about your dog. This lesion could be an insect bite, an area of bacterial or fungal infection, or growth. Without seeing it in person it is difficult to distinguish between these. The coughing is much more concerning and I would recommend having her examined as soon as possible if she is having ongoing coughing and difficulty breathing. Some conditions, such as heart disease, can cause coughing that is worse at night when the pet is laying down, so I would want to examine her, listen to her heart and lungs, and take an x-ray of her chest to determine just why she is coughing. Heart disease is not common in a 9 month old dog, but we would also want to check for things like congenital diaphragmatic hernias which could cause problems when she is laying down, or infections of the respiratory tract.

I think it may be time to consider a specialist. I'm not sure if the vet has done a recent x-ray of Mumchie's chest, but I would be concerned his symptoms could be due to heart disease. That can be common in older dogs. Seeing a specialist may give you some answers. Best of luck.

Getting vaccines can be stressful and painful to the dog, and Scrappy may be feeling a little off from all the stress of the day. I would continue to monitor him, and I would be worried if he starts having protected vomiting or diarrhea, develops a swollen face and muzzle, and starts having trouble breathing. Those can be signs of a rare but serious vaccine reaction, and in that case, I'd take him into a vet right away. Try putting a cold compress on where he received his lepto vaccine to see if that helps him. You can apply for 5-10 minutes a couple of times a day. He needs to be examined by a veterinarian right away. Your vet can take an x-ray of his chest to evaluate his lungs and airway. He could have pneumonia, asthma, heart disease, or fluids in his chest. Please call your vet immediately and schedule an appointment.

It is possible that it is a reaction from the vaccines if they were given in the last 24 hours. However it may be more likely it is related to the pulling and chocking on the leash that has made her throat sore and caused inflammation. If there is no improvement after 24 hours or she can’t get comfortable and get some rest then I would have her rechecked

It is hard to know what exactly is going on however he is displaying some signs of potentially being sick such as labored breathing, lethargy and vomiting. I highly recommend that you have Harley evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to perform a physical examination and start there depending on what they think could be wrong. For example, if his lung sounds appear abnormal, they may proceed with chest X-rays. Hello there! I'm sorry Max isn't himself tonight. It is normal that a dog can be lethargic after receiving their vaccines, and you could even see a decrease in appetite. I would be concerned if he was experiencing persistent vomiting and diarrhea, itchy skin or hives, swelling around the muzzle, face, or eyes, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, or collapse. Should you see any off those signs, I would rush him into a vet immediately. The side effects of the vaccines should pass within 24-48 hours, but if he still isn't himself after that time, it would be a good idea to have him seen by a vet. Given that he has a heart murmur, that could also be a cause of him not acting normally, and that should be evaluated by a vet. Good luck, I hope this helps!
