Is my dog's stool normal after eating chicken and dry dog food?

Yes, I think the stool looks pretty normal considering the history. I would not be overly worried. If you can get a probiotic made for dogs in your area then I would suggest you start using that. It helps to balance the normal bacteria in the intestinal tract. If you can't find one made for dogs then you can use a human product or you can use yogurt - must be plain, no flavor, no sweeteners. I don't see anything overly concerning in the lab results you posted.

Yes, the slightly less firm stool can still be normal, and often stools will get progressively less firm when dogs defecate multiple times in succession on a walk or playing out in the yard. I would choose the food that he likes the best. Personally the first picture is an ideal stool, so that would be a good choice! I hope this helps and good luck!

I would continue to monitor Luna's stools for any changes. If you see a pattern that is abnormal (red blood, dark black stool can be a sign of bleeding high in the intestinal tract, gelatinous stools mean the colon may be inflammed or whipworms are present, very light color stools, very loose stools, very dry stools) then you should contact your veterinarian and discuss what is going on. But Chloe's stool may look the same on both diets. The stool is normal in each picture, so I'm not sure what the goal with her stool is. I hope this helps!

This doesn't really sound like an issue to me - dogs can sometimes change their behavior patterns when it comes to the frequency of defecation and it doesn't usually mean there's a problem as long as the stool appears normal. It is also quite common for the first stool to be normal and subsequent stools softer, particularly if the dog is exercising. As long as Oakley has a good appetite, is not losing weight, and does not have blood or mucous in his stool you probably don't need to be concerned.

No worries - it's not a dumb question at all! :) It's very common for canned food to result in softer stool, so this is the most likely cause. Antibiotics such as clindamycin (ClindaCure) can also cause soft stool or even diarrhea in some dogs, so this could be a contributing factor as well. As long as she is happy and acting normal, it shouldn't be any cause for concern.
