My 4-year-old black lab has sores and a raw bottom. What's wrong?

Those spots on Oreo could be several things including allergies, skin mites, flea bites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash his whole body, just those spots). Protect the areas from licking or scratching. If they don't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have him examined by his veterinarian who may prescribe medications. If they are appearing every couple of hours, my best guess would be that Ozzy is getting hives from an allergic reaction. If the reaction is serious enough to cause a breakout like the one your describing, where the hives are oozing, I would be concerned that things could get worse. I think Ozzy should probably be seen sometime tonight if possible to be assessed. He may need a steroid shot to try and control the continuing allergic reaction. If you decide not to go, continue to monitor at home. You may want to consider an antihistamine as well. and remove Ozzy from the allergen if you have any idea what it could be If you begin to see any respiratory distress or swelling of the face, this should be considered an emergency that must be dealt with immediately.

These look like localized areas of infection and look like they are causing Maddie some discomfort. I would recommend taking Maddie to the vet to be examined. The wounds/areas of infection may need to be clipped and cleaned. She will most likely need to be placed on an antibiotic to help the areas heal as well. If Maddie is very itchy, she may need a medication to help stop the itch so she does not continue to cause these sore areas. I hope this helps. This behavior can be indication of impacted anal sacs or intestinal worms. Dogs rube their butt on the floor when it is itchy. I would have Rosco seen by a vet first thing in the morning, and be sure to bring along a sample of his feces so the vet can check for worms. The vet can diagnose what is causing him to have an itchy behind, and can treat him for it. Should he have worms, the vet can give him a deworming treatment. If he has impacted anal sacs, the vet can express them.

This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat Jack with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advocate or advantage), then get him to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start him on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting him on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

Blue and his brother are gorgeous dogs! It looks like Blue may have some acne on his chin. If they root around or dig in the yard it can cause inflammation there, it could also be secondary to allergies.
