My dog has a smelly wound. How do I use Agnesia antibacterial powder?

These usually need draining, flushing and systemic antibiotics to properly resolve. Wonder dust is more for treatment of proud flesh in horses. Good luck!

Hello. I would suggest getting a collar/cone so he cannot lick at it, and to just wash it with warm water, no soap or products. I would stop putting any products on it, and then get it seen in the morning. Good luck with Shadow!

These maggot wounds are treatable, but turpentine and Betadine won't kill them all and will actually make the wound worse. They are best killed with camphor powder, but the maggots need to be pulled out from in the wound, or they will cause a severe infection. In order to pull them out, the dog often needs to be sedated. For this and other wound treatment, I highly recommend you take him to a vet doctor. For now, you should flush the wound using a syringe or other dispensing device with normal, clean, warm water for five minutes. This may not be easy, because dogs tend to hate this and will try to run away. I recommend having someone help you with this and holding Brando to make sure the wound gets flushed well. Infection is the biggest concern with these wounds; so after flushing, it's best to apply an antibacterial cream to the wound and a bandage. In order to keep the wound clean, it's best to flush the wound 1-2 times a day and gently wipe away any big crusts - make sure not to scrub the wound, because this can make it worse. Apply the antibacterial cream after each flushing. I hope that helps and Brando gets better soon.

You can put an antibacterial cream on it 2-3 times a day for a few days and just monitor it, if it seems to be getting worse - take Ace to your vet in order to get it checked and treated as it may be a fungal or parasite related lesion as well.

Poor pup! If the wound isn't healing, it's likely that it is infected and will need prescription antibiotics to treat it effective. Because of this, I would recommend taking your dog to the vet tomorrow morning for an exam - he/she can take a look at the wound and determine what is needed to treat it. In the meantime, if you're able to gently clip the hair and matted discharge from over the wound, this should be fine to do. You can also gently clean the area with some warm water and antibacterial soap. I would not recommend using peroxide, as this may sting and often causes additional tissue damage and irritation which can make healing more difficult.

While some people may use these powders, this really should not be necessary if they are being treated appropriately with antibiotic therapy. I would recommend to actually leave them uncovered. Otherwise, these are ideally evaluated by a veterinarian who can examine her to determine the extent of these and proceed accordingly with therapy. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). Ideally a check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. The area must be clipped more and disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (twice daily). Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any).
