My rescued poodle has weird smells, hip issues, and a back hump. Vet?

These are all very concerning signs, especially the bloating which can be due to heart, liver or hormonal conditions all of which can increase the risk of debilitating infections. Please have him assessed urgently and take a urine sample with you if at all possible in order to speed diagnosis and appropriate treatment

What you read is TYPICALLY true- but I have seen exceptions- mostly in very severe dental disease, patients with suppressed immune systems, and patients with very crowded teeth. However, based on Teddy’s listed breed, age, and size, I’m guessing he doesn’t fall into those categories. I don’t think it’s likely an urgent matter, but do bring it up to your vet the next time you go.

Discuss your concerns with the vet and they may recommend some bloodwork or other diagnostic testing. Some cases of incontinence can benefit from medications. While it will not be a cure it can greatly improve the episodes. In some cases, dogs may inappropriately urinate or defecate if they are experiencing cognitive dysfunction. Medications or diets can also help with this, especially if he is in good shape physically. In the meantime you may want to let Teddy out by himself and monitor to make sure that he is urinating and defecating before letting him back inside. He may be getting distracted by the other dogs.

I recommend to discuss ruling out a food allergy and hypothyroidism with your veterinarian .Without any further information it’s hard to know which is best but your regular veterinarian should be able to guide you. Food allergies are easiest to diagnose when pets have a proper diet trial with a hydrolyzed prescription protein. Thyroid disease is diagnosed with a straightforward blood test. If you are smelling a bad odor coming from Prince's mouth, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine his mouth to determine if he has severe dental disease or not. He will likely need a dental cleaning and a course of antibiotics if he is dealing with severe dental disease, which is typical in small breed dogs. Some things you can do after you have his teeth cleaned would include Oravet chews, Plaque off and CET oral rinse. I hope this helps! Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that you're having these issues with Honey. Scooting his rear end on the rug is often a sign of impacted anal glands, or intestinal parasites. Brown gunk and a foul smell to the ears usually indicates a yeast or bacterial ear infection. Increased urination and accidents in the house can be caused by diabetes, Cushing's disease, chronic kidney disease, or a bladder issues such as stones or a UTI. All of these problems will require treatment by a veterinarian, so I would recommend taking Honey in for an exam. He/she can do some diagnostic testing if needed to help determine what all is going on with him and get him started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.

What a cutie Rufus is! I would be concerned with some of his symptoms that he could be suffering from underlying periodontal disease (problems with his teeth). This is very common in older small breed dogs. Even if you cannot see any issues with his teeth when you look in his mouth, we can often have disease below the gum line that is not detectable while the dog is awake. I would recommend an exam by his vet to see if a dental cleaning is in order. They can check his eyes and ears at that time to see if there are any concerns that need to be addressed with them.
