Dog sluggish, not eating/drinking. Could his new Thundershirt be why?

There are many causes of inappetance so it is hard to say for sure what the cause is in Chester. Something is bothering him but without examining him and without testing, I cannot say for sure what it is. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would have x-rays and blood testing performed to establish a minimum database and find out if there are any abnormalities. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Causes of a fever are: Lyme disease, immune conditions, infection (urinary, joint, lung) or pending GI upset. If she isn't better by the morning she should be seen by your Vet. I wish you the best!

I know you are worried so you really need to get him to a vet for an exam. I think you are right to be worried. Here are some possibilities for his symptoms: * collapsing trachea * heart disease (like heart failure) * heartworm disease * kennel cough * asthma * lung worms There are many others but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Given the lack of clinical signs besides lethargy and inappetence, there is not much else to go on here. I would consider obtaining a rectal thermometer tomorow and checking for a fever (above 102.5), which might suggest the presence of an infection or inflammation. If you detect a fever, I would definitely suggest getting Rusty to the vet sometime soon. If there is no fever, but his condition does not get better by Monday he should be taken in for an examination regardless. You can certainly try and feed Rusty something that would normally be considering irresistible just to see if he will accept it, rather than just his normal dog food. Anyway, hope this helps and that Rusty is feeling better soon. It is entirely possible that he might just feeling a little under the weather or maybe could have eaten something he shouldn't have that upset his stomach. If this is the case, the symptoms should pass with short time.

Oh no, I'm sorry Ziggy isn't doing well at all Edye and Chris! Based on the symptoms you have described, I wouldn't rush him into the ER vet tonight. It can be worrying that he has had minimal appetite today and is lethargic, but not eating or drinking for 3.5 hours isn't concerning just yet. You are correct that it could be his belly upsetting him, and I would monitor him overnight. Should he still not be eating or drinking in the morning, or if he is still lethargic, then I would take Ziggy into the vet. Over the night, if he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, or becomes very lethargic, then yes I would take him into an ER vet. Hopefully he just has an upset stomach and will feel better in the morning. You can try offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts to see if that tempts him to eat. I hope this helps and Ziggy feels better soon!

A week of inappetance, lethargy, and now panting is concerning for many different conditions, some fatal without treatment. Concerns would be a foreign object stuck in his gut, severe gastritis, heart disease, infection/sepsis, etc. Lethargy and inappetance (not eating) are vague clinical signs that can be associated with many disease conditions. Your vet will do an exam, and likely run some bloodwork, and might have to take some x-rays. Best of luck with Alfie, I hope he feels better soon!

It sounds like he needs immediate care if he is not eating, he is lethargic and may have a fever. This sounds like a serious condition that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.
