My dog's eyes are red and he can't see. Is it from the room freshener?

Those eyes look pretty irritated, and I would be concerned there is a scratch or injury/reaction to the eye from the dust. I would try to keep the eyes cleaned and clear, and if they continued to swell or don't improve, seek veterinary care to treat any allergic reactions or injuries.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's eye. If the redness has resolved somewhat then it is likely from some irritation with the rain and shower, especially if your brother used shampoo. However, please monitor the eyes carefully and if he starts rubbing at his eyes, if the eyes start watering or he is holding them closed then please schedule a visit with your veterinarian. Eye irritation can develop into an ulcer on the cornea and these need to be treated quickly and aggressively.

I am afraid, without actually smelling your dog, I could not tell you. However you should give your dog a bath and see whether you can wash off whatever he was sprayed with. This still may have been a skunk. If your dog still cannot open his eyes, he will have to be seen by a veterinarian after being washed, preferably this morning.

It is difficult to give advice without actually seeing the eye. You are welcome to post again with a photo if you'd like. That being said, as long as she is not pawing at the eye, scratching at it or squinting then you can probably wait until your vet opens again to take her for a recheck exam. Continue to put the medications in as prescribed. If you are noticing squinting or that the eye is actually bothering her then you need to get her to a vet ASAP for an exam. Hope this helps. I am sorry to hear this! His eye does look very irritated- and the area around his eye that has a 'cobblestone' appearance suggests that he has some chronic irritation. I would want to rule out a few things that cause these signs including stray eyelashes that are 'ingrown', eyelid abnormalities, allergies and mites. The good news is that most of these things can be treated successfully! I would bring him in and have a few eye tests done and have them closely examined with magnification (sometimes an ophthalmologist is recommended) and see what kind of treatment plan is needed. Until you can bring him in, over the counter lubricating eye drops may bring some short term relief. I hope this helps!

The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. Please do not attempt to treat an eye infection at home with any over the counter medications, drops or ointments. From your description and the pictures, this may be an eye infection, trauma to the eye or allergies. Terramycin ophthalmic ointment is one antibiotic ointment that we do use to treat eye infections. I would say that this is safe to use but if the eye is worsening or is no better during or after the course of treatment, I would recommend having Pat examined by a veterinarian.
