My pug has a penis infection with pus, and Augmentin isn't helping.

From the picture you have provided I would suspect that Lolo and the other pups have an upper respiratory infection with that eye discharge being present. I would recommend having them seen by a veterinarian as I would not recommend giving a human product without the consent of your veterinarian due to appropriate dosing. I would recommend starting them on Clavamox, which has a different concentration for animals. This will need to be prescribed by your veterinarian once the puppies are examined. Poor pup. For any wound in which it doesn't heal with broad spectrum antibiotics you will need to get the area cultured or surgically removed. I assume he is intact, so a neuter + scrotal ablation (removal of the testicular sack) are recommended for this problem. However he unfortunately sounds very ill and potentially may have something else underlying that is causing this, such as Brucelosis, a fungal infection, or systemic infection. He need bloodwork analysis and perhaps even titers ran to check for these things before surgery. Having him hospitalized also should be considered to provide him supportive and nutritional support. No, unfortunately it cannot. Infections require antibiotics, which can only be prescribed by a vet. Copper does have to see a vet for treatment. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There can be several causes for what you have shown in the picture, including infection, cancer, bleeding/clotting disorder, trauma, or foreign body (something stuck in the pouch between the skin and penis that is rubbing). If the antibiotics that your vet described several days ago have not made any difference, then I recommend that you take Hugas in for a recheck examination. It may be that the bacteria did not respond to that particular antibiotic, or that the problem is not caused by bacteria and another treatment should be discussed.

It sounds like he might have an infection. Your vet can examine him and prescribe an antibiotic, if needed. If you see any discharge then you could clean it with a DOUXO® Chlorhexidine Pads and see if that helps. Otherwise, see if your vet can see him before Wednesday so treatment can be started.

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Poor Archie seems to have a case of pododermatitis, an inflammatory condition sometimes associated with allergies. It may, indeed take a few days for the antibiotics to kick in. Hopefully, he is on an oral antibiotic, but I will also recommend a topical one, as well. This would involve bandaging up the foot so the antibiotic does its job. You can talk to your vet about some pain medication too. In the meantime, soak the foot in warm water & dilute betadine or 2% chlorhexidine. 1/4 cup of the solution in a cup of water should do it. Try to soak the paw for 5-10 minutes 3 times a day, rinse & dry the foot. This will help in the healing process. Hope Archie is doing better soon. Take care.
