My 10-month-old bulldog has a penis "blood blister." What is it?

The vet should perform a rectal examination to check the size of his prostate as this could certainly be the cause. I would also consider abdominal xrays to check and see if there are any abdominal abnormalities or urinary tract abnormalities that can be detected on the xrays. It could be he injured his penis, or the blood is a sign of infection. I don't see much blood in the picture, so I'd keep an eye on it for now. If the bleeding continues or increases, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

The pictures are not very clear, so it's difficult to tell what this is. There is a natural bump in this location called the bulbous, but it should be uniformly round and smooth in appearance. It's possible that he has a tumor known as a transmissible venereal tumor (TVT), which is occasionally acquired by unnuetered dogs. If you are not planning on breeding him, immediate castration would be recommended to prevent recurrence. If you are considering breeding, surgical widening of the opening in the prepuce may be required

The needle likely created a hematoma (blood collection under the skin) from puncturing a small blood vessel during the testing process. This should go away on its own. If it continues to grow in size or persist, I would have the veterinarian that performed the test originally recheck the area. If the mass does not go away, I would send out further testing to the laboratory to help confirm what the mass could be. With Peppa's age, it is likely benign or infectious versus cancerous but there is no way to tell unless a sample is interpreted at a lab further. I hope this helps! Hello there and thank you for your post! From the pictures you have posted, it the red blood blister like mass you are seeing is most likely what we call a hemangioma, which is typically benign. However, hemangiomas can turn into hemangiosarcomas that are cancerous. I would recommend having this removed if possible to prevent this from progressing. If Gizmo does not do well at the vet, you can ask if they can provide you with an anti-anxiety medication / sedative to administer prior to an appointment to get this looked at. I hope this helps! This may be an abscess, a cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.
