That does not look like a normal intestinal worm. Intestinal worms are white or light yellow. I suspect this is something he ate. Wrap it up in a baggie and take it to be examined by your veterinarian. To be safe, have the store checked for worms since some rooms can be spread to humans. That does not look like an intestinal worm. Roundworms look like spaghetti and tapeworms look like pieces of rice. Those are typically the worms you see a dog vomit out or poop out. It also does not look like a whipworm or hookworm. I'm wondering if this is something Scout ate that has upset his stomach, leading to the shaking and coughing. He may have vomited it out. I would keep an eye on him for now. If he vomits, has diarrhea, is lethargic, or has a loss of appetite, take him into a vet immediately to get checked out. I hope this helps.

If you saw the poop a few hours later and it looked more like a small earthworm, it is more likely a fly larvae. If it's the first, check out a dewormer such as Sentry HC WormX Plus Flavored De-Wormer Chewables for Dogs, (Pet Co). Be sure to check that the product is labeled for Suzie's weight and age. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes! It does look like Brady is passing adult worms. If that is fresh stool and hasn't been sitting outside for hours. I recommend collecting a stool sample and having it tested by your Vet. The worms seem shorter and thicker than round worms so it is important to know if the is fresh stool or old stool since free living nematodes do come to eat stool. A stool sample (looking at the eggs) will help identify the exact parasite he is passing and then how to treat it. Dogs usually do acting normal when they have worms. Yes, it sounds like Opie definitely has worms - the long, skinny worm that you saw was probably a roundworm. These parasites are very common in young dogs - most of the time, you won't actually see them in the stool but your vet can diagnose them with a decal exam under the microscope. You can get a broad spectrum dewormer like Strongid or Panacur over the counter that will get rid of the worms, or get medication from your vet if you prefer.

Those look like they are probably roundworms. She would have gotten them from coming into contact with infective eggs in the soil most likely. (From where another dog pooped and that poop contained roundworm eggs, then your dog was nosing around near where that was (even if there was no obvious poop on the ground, the eggs will stay in the soil). It is not a result of the food. You can get effective roundworm treatment over the counter. Look for a pyrantel product and follow the label instructions. Feed stores will generally carry it.
