My puppy is panting. Could Vicks VapoSteam humidifier be the cause?

If you have noticed a change in her breathing pattern and she appears to have labored breathing, I would recommend getting her in to be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. I'm concerned this can be a sign that he's sick, in pain, stressed, or scared. Keep a close eye on him tonight and if he's still acting this way in the morning, have him seen by a vet for a health check. Best of luck.

Careful use of a small amount of vaseline is unlikely to cause pneumonia but I would be careful not to over apply as inhalation could indeed be dangerous for the airways and lungs. Panting can be due to pain, fever, inflammation or heart disease and i would recommend a full vet check

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Storm! I wonder if the medications Storm was put on for the hot spot are causing the panting. Steroids are commonly prescribed for hot spots because it reduces the inflammation, itch and dries them out. Prednisone definitely makes dogs pant! If Storm is on steroids then the panting should resolve as the steroids are tapered. I hope this helps!

I would recommend taking Buddy to a veterinarian if we are still breathing heavy. They can get stressed and breath heavier from anxiety but my concern is that puppies this young can get sick and decline quickly. Dogs cannot sweat to release heat, so they have to pant to breathe off heat. As long as Lassie can settle down and act normally, eat, drink, etc, he should be OK. I hope this is helpful!
