My dog won't eat, hides, and is lethargic. Are his ulcers back?

I am sorry to hear about Tommy. From your description he sounds very sick. The thick saliva from his mouth could be because he is nauseated. If he has blood in his urine this may be from a urinary tract infection or a bladder stone causing this problem. Please seek veterinary care and examination for Tommy immediately so they can help him feel more comfortable and get to the bottom of these problems. I hope he is feeling better soon.

Tommy needs to go into a vet immediately. It's very serious he won't eat, he's lost lots of weight, and is weak from lack of nutrition. At his age, it could be something severe causing him to not eat, such as kidney failure, liver failure, cardiac disease, or cancer among others. He needs veterinary attention now, he will slowly be starving. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zeus. I would recommend having some bloodwork checked on him. Rarely, severe kidney disease can cause ulcers in the mouth. If this is not the case, he could be reluctant to move due to joint, muscle or abdominal pain. Tommy is experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Tommy.

It could be Tobi has a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I'm concerned about his symptoms, and think he needs to see a vet now. Please take him into one immediately.

This sounds like he’s in pain. It can be from arthritis, a knee ligament injury or pain from his back. Arthritis should show up on x rays, and he would be lame on one leg if it’s a cruciate ligament injury. Back pain can be caused by a bulging intervertebral disc and can me difficult to see on x rays. It can cause trouble walking with incoordination. Regardless I would try Tom on pain medication to see if that helps and keep him quiet. No running or jumping and lots of short slow leash walks. Once the pain is controlled he should eat better. If there is no improvement I recommend a rcheck or an exam with a veterinary specialist.
