Dog not eating, dry nose after car travel and bath. What's wrong?

Your information doesn't say how old she is. If a young puppy then I would go in immediately. If an adult, then fasting food for 12 hours, then offering a bland diet of Boiled chicken and rice. If she won't eat, if she begins vomiting, or if there is blood in her bowel movement then she should be seen. Or at any time if she seems to be getting worse. I hope she improves soon. It could be that Jules now has a respiratory infection. I would try gently warming up wet food for her to tempt her to eat, and you can add water to it to get more water into her. You can also try using a humidifier or bringing her into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. Definitely call the vet in the morning to make an appointment for her to be seen, as you do not want her to go long without drinking and eating. I hope this helps!

The diarrhea could be caused by any number of things; intestinal parasites, a bacterial infection, even being constipated will sometimes manifest as diarrhea because liquid feces is all that will get by the impacted fecal material. It could be as simple as a dietary indiscretion, meaning she might have gotten into the trash and eaten something that didn't agree with her. Try taking away all food, treats included, for 24 hours (only if she is an adult dog; puppies should never be fasted for more than 12 hours). She can still have water. This will give her gut a chance to rest. After the 24 hours are up, introduce just a small amount of her normal food. Wait a little while and give her a little more. Keep doing this until she has had her normal amount for the morning. However, if she continues to have loose stool, or starts vomiting, loses her appetite, acts lethargic, and/or develops a fever, get her in to be seen by your vet right away as this could indicate a more serious problem.

Poor Cindy! It would be the stress of being on the road with you causing the diarrhea, or if you are giving her human treats on the trip, that could be causing the diarrhea as well I am concerned about her fast and irregular breathing, and that could be a sign of pain or a respiratory infection. If that continues for another 24 hours, I would find a vet to see her. It could also be a sign of stress from being in the truck, but in my opinion, it would be best for her to have that checked out by a vet if it continues to be safe. As for the diarrhea, go to the grocery store and get some plain deli chicken (no flavors) and microwaveable white rice. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed her this bland diet of the chicken and rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days, Slowly add back in her normal diet after this if the diarrhea has cleared up. If the bland diet doesn't help the diarrhea, then she needs to see the vet. Be sure not to give her any human food in case that's upsetting her stomach.

Travelling is always a stress on the system. Try to increase fluid intake & make sure she gets plenty of exercise while you are travelling. We often advise feeding canned pumpkin , 1- 2 tablespoons twice a day to help move the bowels. As long as she is not vomiting, try feeding her some special treats like some chicken or cooked hamburger. These are very unspecific signs of being unwell. You can observe her for a while, fast her for 24 hours and then offer her some boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken. If she has a tummy ache this should clear that up. If you suspect that she is in pain somewhere else of if she is deteriorating and or getting lethargic, you need to take her to a veterinarian for an exam.
