Why won't my dog eat but drinks water after pyometra ruled out?

Unfortunately, bloodwork will only tell us part of what is going on internally. Sometimes figuring out what is wrong can require additional testing such as urine samples, x-rays or ultrasounds. You didn't mention Luna's age, but have her listed as unspayed. Depending on when her last heat cycle was, you may want to discus with your veterinarian if she could have been bred or is having a uterine infection. Not eating or drinking is a serious medical problem, so I would strongly recommend contacting your veterinarian for their recommendation on the next diagnostic or treatment steps you can take with Luna to figure out what is going on and how to make her feel better. Poor girl. She may have an internal illness that is causing her to not want to eat and have excessive drinking. Several things could be causing this including a bacterial infection, liver or kidney disease. I would recommend offering her some canned dog food or boiled plain chicken and rice to see if that entices her to eat. However, if she has not eaten after 24 hrs, or seems to be declining at any point, its best to get her seen by your vet for a proper exam and some diagnostic tests (i.e. bloodowork) to help identify the underlying problem so that we know how to best help her. Hi there! I'm so sorry poppy isn't feeling well. Given her signs, and that she isn't spayed, she does run the risk of having a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus. This can become very, very serious if left untreated, so I would have her examined by your veterinarian right away. Aside from the above, which would be at the top of my list until proven otherwise, Poppy is 7 years old. This makes her a senior dog. She should have blood tests to check not only for a pyometra, but for other illnesses such as diabetes, or kidney disease, for example, that may cause her decreased appetite. Good luck!

In this case, she could be getting picky and holding out for tastier treats. If she is not eating at all though, this is worrisome. She is a small dog and her blood sugar can drop too low of she goes extended periods without food. Tricia is experiencing very general symptom of disease, this symptom could fit almost any internal condition, maybe she is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking her to the vet as soon as possible in order to get her checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Tricia.

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend a geriatric blood panel. It's for senior dogs to check for a range of illnesses. I also recommend a urinalysis and possibly an x-ray. I see that Dahlia is not spayed, and her symptoms could be cause by a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment.
