My dog has a new growth for over a week. Should I be worried?

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I can imagine what this looks like based on your description, although a picture attachment would have been even more helpful. It sounds like your pet has a skin mass, which typically is not an emergency type of situation, especially if it isn’t bleeding or causing immense pain or discomfort for your pet. Having the mass evaluated on Monday is perfectly logical. The vet will gather samples of the mass and send it off for anlalgsis through the lab to see if this is a mass that will require surgical removal or not. I hope things work out well for your pet. Best wishes and take care.

This looks like a benign skin growth. Sometimes with young dogs such as Negra these growths are there for a month or so and then go away. Please take a photo and measure the growth so you will know if it's getting bigger or smaller. If it's still there in a month or getting bigger quickly then please take her in for an exam. They can aspirate it and check the cells to determine what type of growth it is. They may recommend surgical removal and biopsy also. Luckily it appears to only be in the skin and should be easy to remove if needed. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Negra.

If it doesn't impede motion or cause discomfort, you can monitor it at home. Symptoms to watch for include rapid change or growth, redness, discharge or discomfort. Your veterinarian may recommend a fine needle aspirate to collect samples for pathology. This may provide a diagnosis.

It is hard to say what it is without seeing and examining your dog. It may be just de-pigmentation of the nose, potentially it could be a form of superficial infection. As long as your dog is not bothered by the change, is bright, is eating and drinking as normal it should be safe to wait until your vets re-open for consultations.

I recommend bringing Lola to a veterinarian. It is ok to wait until your regular veterinarian is open unless she isn't doing well. This can be a hernia, a growth, and abscess, etc. Without a physical examination it is difficult to determine what exactly this is. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

This bump could be from an injury, a skin infection, or a growth. The next step is to have Stella seen by a vet since this has been going on for a week. The vet can diagnose what is causing it, and can discuss treatment options with you. I hope this helps.

It looks like either a wart (papilloma) or a histiocytoma tumor. Neither of these are serious. I personally would wait and see if it goes away on it's own. A histiocytoma usually will but a papilloma will not. So, if it does not go away within 4-6 weeks then I would have it checked by your vet. If you are worried though, you should go ahead and have her checked now. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps. Best wishes!
