My dog has nerve issues and a weak leg. Can I restart B-complex?

There are too many possible causes for her symptoms to narrow down without an exam. She could have ingested a toxin, have a severe infection (fungal, oral, bacterial, tick borne), be in severe pain, suffered hard or spinal trauma. There could be a regional disease that is more prevalent in the Philippines. I would have her seen by a vet as soon as possible. I wish you the best!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. What you are describing sounds as though Frankey is suffering from a neurological condition. Without examining him it is impossible to say for sure. He may have a protruding disk in his spine that is compressing the spinal cord leading to this paralysis / weakness of the hind end. I would also be worried that this could be a degenerative muscle disease leading to the weakness. Frankey may need to go on a course of steroids long term to treat this and the condition may not resolve, it may continue to worsen despite treatment. If you are able to get him seen by a veterinary neurologist, this would give you a good second opinion. I hope this helps and I hope that Frankey gets better soon!

Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach to address your concern. Based on your description I would not suspect that a probiotic would cause this symptoms. In my years of using probiotics in dogs, this is one symptoms I've never seen arise from using a probiotic. Probiotics are quite safe to give to dogs and rarely cause side effects apart from GI upset (vomiting / diarrhea). I would recommend monitoring Roxy for 24 hours and if the symptoms persists, take her in to be examined by a veterinarian to help rule out other causes of this. Poor Tommy! I would recommend contacting your veterinarian or taking Tommy back in today for a recheck visit, since it sounds like he's having some new symptoms now. This could be related to his original problem, or could be a side effect of the medication. Your veterinarian can re-evaluate him and advise you on what the next steps should be from here.

Neurologic issues can take time. It is great that she is up and bearing weight on her own, dogs are so amazing. Hopefully she had xrays to look for a spinal/pelvic fracture, collapsed disc space, etc. as these would be important to rule out as well. You will need to give her potentially even months to know what her new normal with be. Hopefully she will at some point be deficit free or only have a mild deficit but it is too soon to tell. Keep working with her. Hopefully your vet has recommended a physical therapy/rehab plan for her. If not, you could request referral to a rehab therapist.
