Dog's neck stepped on, can't move, drooling. Is this an emergency?

Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach. I'm sorry that Cheti is not feeling well. I suggest you take him to your vet for an examination. It sounds like he may have hurt his neck and/or back. Even if nothing seemed to have happened while outside he may have just turned his head wrong and pinched a nerve. The other thing that happens sometimes is that dogs start to get arthritis in their spine as they age and that may be acting up. That is why a vet exam is important. He is obviously in pain and at the very least your vet can prescribe some pain medications for him. Hope this helps. If Little is doing as poorly as you describe, this is a medical emergency and she needs to see a vet right away. She could be seriously injured and in pain, and it's concerning that she won't move and has trouble walking. There is nothing you can do for her at home, she has to have veterinary care right away. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

The symptoms that Doofy is showing are not specific for one particular disease, but they could be due to stroke, vestibular syndrome, intoxication, twisted stomach. All of these conditions are serious and require immediate vet attention.

Poor pup! This sounds like a potentially serious problem, so I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic today to be seen. He may have a neurologic problem of some kind, may have injured himself somehow, or may have ingested something toxic. The ER veterinarian can do a completely neurologic exam and may recommend blood work, x-rays, or other testing if needed to help figure out what's wrong. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have contact information for your nearest ER or an on-call doctor for emergencies.

If Scrapoy is having neurologic signs (leg weakness, knuckling, not moving the leg(s), walking drunk) I would worry that he is suffering from a slipped disk in his neck or back. The shaking is common when dogs are in pain and disk can be very painful. I would recommend taking Scrapoy to the Vet today for an exam. I hope this helps and I wish you the very best!

Poor Pickle! I'm so sorry that this happened - it's easy to lose track of tiny puppies like this and accidentally injure them. Unfortunately, it sounds like Pickle may be very seriously hurt. I would recommend taking him to an emergency vet immediately for the best chance of saving his life - he may need x-rays to help determine what his injuries are, as well as IV fluids and other supportive care. If going to the vet is not an option, then all you can do at home is keep him warm and comfortable and hope for the best. You can try offering a small amount of food and water if he seems willing to eat, and monitor him closely for the next 24 hours to see if things improve.
