My pitbull is mopey with discharge, eye boogers, and nose whistling?

This is very concerning as, while her vaccinations were done on time, she is not fully protected against distemper and parvo yet. Purulent discharge from her nose and eyes are concerning as they could , of course be a simple respiratory infection, but also a sign of canine distemper. Please take your puppy to a veterinarian for an exam and some diagnostics.

Hello! So the discharge from Capone’s eye could be due to an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I’d take him into a vet today or tomorrow. As for the discharge from his penis, this may be normal. It could be smegma, which is a discharge that comes from the penile sheath. Just to be safe, have the vet check it out when you bring him in for his eyes. Best of luck.

The eye must be checked immediately to make sure there is nothing wrong with it that requires immediate check up. A trauma, injury, acute inflammation/allergic reaction or infection could all be possible. Regarding the vomiting episode, I would recommend to withhold food for 12 hours and then start feeding her with a bland diet based in chicken and rice (boiled) in small portions every 6hours. Keep feeding her like that for 2days and then go back gradually to normal dietary regime.

It appears he may have an entropion. This is where the eyelids roll inward so the hair and lashes can scratch the eye and cause irritation. This maybe secondary to confirmation or secondary from swelling. Your vet can check for an ulcer and hopefully prescribe anti inflammatory meds if there is not one. From there, they will check for dry eye and discuss surgery to fix the entropion to provide permanent relief

Poor Wyatt! Cloudy discharge from the eyes and nose is usually caused by some type of upper respiratory infection. It sounds like he will probably need antibiotics to treat the problem, so I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam today if possible. In the meantime, you can use a warm washcloth or cotton ball to gently wipe away the discharge as often as needed. This will not treat the underlying problem, but may help to make him a bit more comfortable until you are able to see the vet.

Lethargy, inappetence, weight loss, nasal discharge and abnormal breathing sounds sometimes can be observed with an upper respiratory infection (think of it as a sinus infection just like humans get). Sometimes it is severe enough that it travels to the lower respiratory system (lungs) and causes pneumonia. Whining could potentially be associated with this while penis discharge is likely a separate issue. I recommend that you have Honkey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
