Why is my 6-month Great Dane puppy suddenly missing fur on her leg?

It looks like he might have an allergic dermatitis and skin infection. It would be best to have your vet take a look at him to determine the best way to treat. Your vet can do a skin scrape, cytology, culture, or biopsy, if needed, to help diagnose. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and/or other medications to help treat. You could also bathe him with a medicated shampoo, like DOUXO® Chlorhexidine and see if that helps.

Hello. This just looks like a bad scrape, but the skin actually looks pretty good. Just watch for any signs of bruising or pain ( he may limp or start licking the area ), but if he seems fine & unbothered by this, then the hair should grow back just fine. Hello. I would watch this for a bit & see if it progresses. Is it possible that Mr. Pickles received a vaccination in this area in the last few months? Sometime a localized vasculitis can occur & it can look like this. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the hair will grow back. You can rub a little OTC hydrocortisone cream into the area for the next 7-10 days, but if it does not seem to bother him, just keep an eye on things. Hello. All I can see is a small area of dermatitis on the leg. It can have many causes, but you can treat this with an over the counter skin antiseptic called Hibiclens. Gently scrub the skin twice a day & dab dry ( do not rinse ). Do this for about 2-3 weeks & the lesion should clear up. But since I cannot make any kind of actual diagnosis, if the skin becomes more irritated or the area does not seem to be healing, please consider seeing your veterinarian. The brown discoloration on her fur may be from her chewing / licking at the leg. It looks like it was healing under the scab, however I am a little concerned about the area on the leg where this lesion is. THis is very close to the knee joint, which may mean that your dog had pain in this area and therefore was gnawing on it. I recommend you have this examined by your veterinarian a there may be a problem with his knee joint.
