Puppy losing balance and not playful after vet said she's fine?

Hello. It sounds like she may have had a mild episode of a condition called Vestibular Syndrome, an imbalance in the inner ear(s). If it has been a while since she saw a vet, it would not be a good idea to have her checked out. At this age, 2chainz is considered a senior citizen & things can begin to change. A good wellness exam & geriatric bloodwork is highly recommended to make sure she is as healthy as possible going into her "golden" years. I wonder why she lost her balance. Did she trip? Are her eyes moving back and forth? It is hard to say the reason for her losing her balance. When she did lose her balance how did she fall? My concern with her stretching and panting she may have hurt herself. I would recommend finding an emergency veterinarian. The reason for that is to make sure she didn't hurt her back or neck. Hi. This is definitely not normal. I would be concerned she has episodes of low glucose, a neurologic condition she may have been born with, or another possibility is an infection that is affecting her neurologic system. I recommend she get a full blood panel, try another food to entice her to eat more, and have a full neurologic exam done by your veterinarian or a neurologic specialist. Having none of her shots does put infection high on the list.

If Lily seems completely fine otherwise I think you could monitor her tonight and contact your vet in the morning to see if they would recommend an exam. If she loses balance again, seems disoriented, or vomits is recommend seeing a vet tonight. It’s possible that she had a short seizure or other neurologic problem, or that she has low blood sugar or an electrolyte imbalance.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Dixie! Since she is so young I really worry about her eating a toxin. Another possibility though it is not common in such a young dog is vestibular disease. This is when the balance center is off and they feel like they are spinning. Their eyes tend to be moving abnormally, they have a head tilt, fall to one direction, walk drunk and vomit. I would take her to an open emergency hospital to be evaluated. I wish you the best!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Poppy! I recommend that Poppy be seen by your Vet. Possible causes are distemper virus, a congenital abnormality, toxin ingestion, trauma or a brain issue. Hopefully this is just an injury that needs time to resolve but it is hard for me to say with out examining her or seeing a video. It may be very helpful for you to video tape an episode so your Vet can help you the best they can. I hope this helps and I wish Poppy a speedy recovery!

Middle ear infection would be the most common cause for these symptoms at this age, but there is a small chance that it could be a brain condition as well. if she is not responding to the antibiotic treatment i believe taking her to a specialist is the right thing to do.
