If my dog has loose stomach skin, does that mean she's not pregnant?

Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell based only on the appearance of her belly. Weight gain, and loss of muscle tone, can both lead to a dropped appearance as well. We look at other signs, such as development of her mammary glands. Ideally, a veterinarian can perform an ultrasound, and this could tell you if she was pregnant, and if so, roughly how far along pregnancy might be. It sounds like Lola could be pregnant! I would take her into the vet in the next day or two for an exam. The vet can do blood tests, an ultrasound, and possibly x-rays to confirm that she is pregnant and can give you an approximate due date. If she is far along enough, the vet can do x-rays and tell you about how many puppies she is carrying. Having her seen by the vet is best, as it will confirm a pregnancy or not.

It is quite possible she is in pup - males can be fertile for 4-6weeks after castration so if they were not separated, or other males would have had access to her when she was in heat she may well be in pregnant. I recommend you schedule an ultrasound exam with your vet to confirm pregnancy and guide appropriate management. You will need to arrange a separate area for her and pups away from other dogs for at least 6weeks if she is rearing pups

Hello. A dog should not put on weight just from one meal, but if it was a fatty one, she might show some distention from gas. Since she is an older girl, it might be a good idea to have her looked at by your veterinarian to see if she is indeed pregnant. An x-ray or ultrasound would show the appearance of any fetuses in her uterus & give a heads up if she were to run into any difficulties once she goes into labor. Unfortunately there's no way to tell for sure at home. I would certainly say that Zaria appears to be either obese or pregnant, and given that she has mammary gland enlargement as well as being overweight I'd bet on pregnancy, especially if she's been around an intact male. But the only way to tell for sure is to take her in to see her vet. Very rarely we can palpate (feel) puppies but the best tool is x-ray - an x-ray taken of her abdomen at this point would likely for sure reveal puppies if she's pregnant.

To be safe, I would recommend you take her into your vet to make sure that her abdomen palpated (feels) normal, she does not have a temperature and that she is otherwise normal. Sometimes non-spayed females can get something called a pyometra (pus in the uterus) that can cause a tense stomach, vaginal swelling and discharge, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea etc. This can become a surgical emergency therefore, if Pomi is showing any of these signs, I would take her in sooner rather than later.

Being hungrier the day after being stuck doesn't necessarily mean Molly is pregnant. That would be too soon for any symptoms of pregnancy to occur. It is possible that she is pregnant if her stomach has gotten bigger, but the only way to know for sure is to have her seen by a vet for blood tests, x-ray, and ultrasound. The vet can let you know for sure if she's pregnant.
