Why is my dog licking herself down there and growling at me?

Poor girl. The brown staining is saliva staining from her licking. THe vulva also looks to be a bit swollen, likely b/c it is irritated. I would suspect that Aira has some vaginitis here. Visit you vet and they can prescribe some antibiotics to hopefully clear this up. Also if she is peeing more than normal and drinking more water, a urinalysis is warranted to check for a UTI. Until you can get her seen, you can wipe her vaginal area with baby wipes to help remove some of the debris and soothe some of the irritation. Most dogs do not like to be petted under their belly or groin - this is a vulnerable place which is instinctively protected by a natural reflex. I would be concerned he is licking because the tip is constantly exposed and irritated - a full vet check to assess for underlying injury or complications is recommended and surgical repair may be necessary to prevent further self trauma and injury. I recommend you take a fresh urine sample with you to rule out UTI also

Horrible odors are usually caused by bacterial infections. So when Macie licks her vulva, she is massaging secretions out which should be odorless. It appears she has a bacterial infection since there is a smell. She could be suffering from a vaginal infection or a UTI, Peeing in the house and straining are cardinal signs of a UTI.I suggest you take her to your vet for an exam. Bring fresh urine (you can catch it with a kitchen ladle) or do not take her out to pee before you go to the vet, as the vet will need urine to examine. Macie will need antibiotics for at least 10 days, sometimes longer,

Licking and biting excessively at the vulva is often a sign of a urinary tract infection, vaginitis, or certain types of allergies. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do at home to treat any of these problems effectively, so I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow for an exam if possible - she will probably need prescription antibiotics or other medication to treat the problem.

Some dogs do have allergies that can make them focus on the vulva and sometimes they can even end up with an infection around the vulva. You could use a warm washcloth to wipe daily to see if it will help. If she’s not improving in a few days or if you start to notice urinary issues I’d recommend having your vet examine her.

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Zuzia. If this is a new behavior I would consider an examination at her veterinarian. Excessive licking of the vulva can be a sign of a urinary tract infection or an infection of the folds of the vulva, called vulvar dermatitis. Your vet will examine the area and depending on their findings may recommend a urine test.

It's possible that Lulu may have urinary tract infection or some other medical condition that is changing the odor of her urine and making it more interesting to your other dogs. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam when you are able to - he/she can do a urinalysis to check for any problems and get her started on antibiotics or other medication if needed.
