My female dog licked a drained pimple on her private area. What is it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 30 lbs

What is this on my female dog’s genital area? It looks sort of like a zit or pimple. She has been licking the area frequently. The photo was taken last night, it now appears to have drained and is just a reddish dot. Thank you.

If it was draining it was possible it is an abscess (infection) or cyst/blister. I would keep Ellie from licking it as that can cause secondary infection and further irritation. Once she has stopped licking it, I would then keep the area clean and dry and if the spot remains, worsens, or changes in appearance, have it looked at by a vet in person right away.

Even though a picture would help to understand better the underlying cause, This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem.
Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any).

First of all you are going to be ok as blood does not carry any infection that can be transmitted to you.
Even though a picture would help to understand better the underlying cause better, this presentation could be due to a trauma (previous manipulation) or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem.

It looks like a mild skin infection, possibly from the skin in that area staying moist and touching more than other areas on her body. Try keeping the area clean with a mild soap, making sure to completely remove any soap residue with a warm damp washcloth and apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment (without steroid, as steroids slow healing), rubbing it in well. Do this at least daily, and consider bathing her with an oatmeal based pet shampoo to soothe her skin overall. If this area doesn't improve significantly over the next few days, if it gets worse, spreads, if she starts itching or licking excessively, get her in to see your vet as this may be a sign of a an underlying problem that may need more extensive treatment.

Why is my dog licking his red genitals? Pimple. Can I treat at home?

The main concern is if it is an infection being that close to the opening, it has potential to travel up the urethra and cause a bladder infection. You can try to clean the area with soap and water and apply cortisone alternate with Neosporin to soothe the area, just discourage licking while it is one. This will help coat the area to minimize the contamination. If it does not improve or it continues to bother him, then I would get it checked out.

My dog's licking a red, oozing spot near her rectum. Is it infected?

Yes, just based on your description (since I can't see it), it probably is a ruptured anal gland abscess. If the dog will let you, keep the area clean (you can use a baby wipe) and apply some Neosporin to it twice a day until the owner returns. It would also be recommended that you get her a "cone" collar to stop her from licking it. That area could be a ruptured abscess, a ruptured cyst or the previous home of a worm larvae. You can continue treating it like you are. Make sure Eleven wears and elizabethan collar at all times to prevent any licking which could make it worse. My dog keeps licking a rash. Is it safe to wait until her vet visit?

We will commonly see skin problems that we call perivulvar dermatitis (infection of the skin around the vulva) when dogs have a recessed or tucked vulva. That infection can be due to a bacterial or yeast overgrowth as a result of excessive moisture that can develop in those skin folds. Treatment is geared towards drying the area (with a medicated drying wipe or solution), treating the infection (with an antibacterial or antifungal solution) and decreasing inflammation. The only concern that I would have with waiting until Tuesday would be if Ella makes the infection worse by licking at it, so you might consider using an e-collar until her vet appointment on Tuesday. My dog's red pimple-like rash pops clear liquid. What is it?

I am not sure where this cluster of pimples is, but if it is on the chin this could be chin acne. This could also be a skin allergic dermatitis to some type of allergen (chemical or environmental). The almost clear contents inside mixed with blood is probably a folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles) which typically requires antibiotics and medicated cleansers to flush out the follicles. If you canno get to your vet right away for treatment, you can try gently cleansing the area with an antiseptic like Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water or Chlorhexidine 3% diluted as instructed on the bottle (preferred)- available at most Walmart's, to see if this calms things down a bit. Any further treatment depends on the location of the rash and getting your vet involved may be best for Abbie, because he/she can thoroughly examine the area and get her on stronger medications to resolve the skin.
