My dog had a tummy bug. Can I restart her joint supplement now?

If he vomited after gving this, then it is very likely he isn't going to tolerate this medication. I am not sure if you are giving human brand or pet brand, but always give pet formulated joint supplements as these are the proper dosage. Also you should try giving it with food if you haven't done so already. If after these adjustments he is still vomiting, then it is best to not continue giving this and consult with your vet about other options. Best of luck with your pet Tifo moving forward. If the supplement is new then yes, it can cause some diarrhea. I would suggest lowering the dose and switching her to a bland diet. You can try to slowly increase the supplement. If her diarrhea continues try switching brands or contact your veterinarian.

Fortunately, there is usually nothing overtly toxic with overdosing on a joint supplement, & if Louis is doing well at this time, he should continue to do so. He may experience some gastric upset, so diarrhea is still a possibility. I do want you to always be on the lookout for additional stomach problems such as vomiting, gagging/retching, bloating or perceived abdominal pain. I understand being concerned about the cost, but seeing a nutritionist would be best. You don't want to give any vitamins or supplements that could interfere or react with Tater-Tots (LOVE her name!) medication for heart disease. In this case, I would strongly recommend seeing the nutritionist for help getting her a balanced diet. Best of luck.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements are a great idea to help the joints, and something I would do for a retriever on a life-long basis, not just now. Now is an excellent time to start! There are no adverse reactions with the pain meds, so he is safe to get them. Goldens have a tendency towards hip dysplasia, and joint supplements started at an early age can help ease the degradation of the joints. I am glad to hear your pup is doing well, I know how scary it can be to have them hit!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Cloey! When it comes to dog food I'm in the camp that "if it's not broken , why fix it?" So for Cloey, if she as doing well, not vomiting, diarrhea, her weight is good and she liked the Pure Balance then I think it is fine for her. It is definitely likely that changing her food abruptly has caused the diarrhea, that is a a very common cause of an upset stomach. I would feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and beef with rice until the stool is normal. Then I would put her back on her old dog food. I hope this helps and I wish Cloey the very best!
