My rat terrier is jealous of our new hamster. Is this normal behavior?

Certainly jealously among two dogs living with one another isn't unusual. As long as the jealousy isn't manifesting into actions like fear or aggressiveness, I would not be overly concerned. As soon as you begin to disperse the attention to both your dogs more evenly, I think things should return to normal. If the type of surgery performed on your other dog is going to require long term care that will significantly reduce the amount of attention given to Bek, you may have to make sure you schedule enough time during the day to provide Bek with the attention she requires. Typically, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not extremely jealous dogs, but every dog has their own personality.

Your best option may be to board Harley while you are out of town. All dogs are different with different learning levels/skills as well as strengths/weaknesses. Crate training may help with Harley for now but that obviously can't be continued while you are out of town. Some jealousy is not unusual. Make sure both pets are exercised every day and that they are each getting plenty of attention. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It may go either way but I would doubt she has an aggressive nature or the start of your companionship would have not been so well. It may have been too many changes too quickly without letting her adapt. A new environment, people and another pet was overwhelming. It is best to keep her quiet and away until she starts to trust you again and not act aggressive. Once that happens, slowly introduce her to new people and let her explore the environment then let her be around the other pet. She will be scared and stress to start so go slow and be patient.

As long as Sandy is still eating and drinking normally I would not be too concerned. If she stops either of these behaviors then I would recommend taking her to the veterinarian to be evaluated. I think it is very likely that she is stressed because of her new cage/environment. Continue to try and interact with her as you normally do, offer her her favorite treats and toys to help her feel more comfortable. Also, if you got a new substrate (bedding) to go with the new cage this could explain why you are smelling her urine and feces more strongly. If Sandy stops eating, becomes lethargic, or starts having diarrhea then I would recommend taking her in to see your vet. It is hard for us to say without watching your rabbit's behavior but it is possible she could be either feeling territorial (rabbits can be aggressive if they feel a territory is their own) or feeling scared/threatened by the dog. It may take some time for her to adjust to the new dog. Also be sure she has an area where she feels safe/somewhere she can hide such as a sheltered box so that she doesn't feel exposed at all times and can go to this area if she is feeling scared.

I would make sure bubbles has a large enclosures with plenty of toys to play with. Sometimes hamsters can have a lot of built up energy due to limited space. If he is eating,drinking and defecating normally I would not be concerned. However if he continues to have odd behavior or starts acting ill I would recommend taking him to a vet for an exam

It is possible that Khaleesi has hurt herself in the new enclosure. I would recommend giving her a few days to get settled to the new cage. Sometimes a change can cause stress and will make hamsters more anxious and scared. This will change their behavior. If in a few day Khaleesi does not seem more settled I would recommend taking her to a vet to make sure she does not have an injury. At anytime if she stops eating/drinking I would take her in sooner.
