If he has swollen lymph nodes then he could have an infection or possibly lymphoma. Your vet can run blood-work and aspirate the lymph node to determine why it is enlarged. If he has an infection than he would need an antibiotic to treat. If he has a problem with a disc in his back then he would also need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications.

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. I would be concerned that this lymph node enlargement potentially represents lymphoma. Hopefully one of the vets in your area can do a fine needle aspirate or biopsy of the node to see whether this is indeed cancer, or perhaps an infection that is not responding to the particular antibiotics being given. I would also consider a biopsy of the ulcer on the lip, as that may be a cancerous process which is causing secondary lymph node enlargement.

This could be an overly full salivary gland due to a n obstructed or blocked salivary duct. This could also be a cyst or an abscess or, indeed, and insect bite. This is something that needs to be examined by your veterinarian and possibly drained. If there is a salivary duct blockage the duct will need to be unblocked. In my experience lymph nodes can be enlarged for days to week after a dental cleaning if the teeth were bad enough. However best thing to do is aspirate the lymph node and send out the cytology. This will tell you for sure why they are enlarged and help you not worry.

Good morning. If it is towards the back of the jaw it could be an enlarged lymph node or salivary gland. Other possible causes are an abscess or tumor. In young dogs we see a lot of abscesses in that area because they are chewing on sticks or other things and they can puncture the oral tissue and cause an abscess under the jaw. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. A needle aspirate may be done to help determine the diagnosis and treatment plan.
