My dog has incontinence a week after his 1-year shots. Is it normal?

Unlikely. Incontinence is generally related to a lack or hormones or a dysfunction of the nerves. These pups are prone ti bladder infections so get her examined within the new few days. Best of luck.

Puppies can occasionally develop urinary tract infections, or it is possible that Ron is painful somewhere. Vaccines can cause pain at the injection site but usually it is worst a day after the vaccines and improves with time. I wouldn't think the Interceptor or Flea and tick medication would be related. I'd recommend making an appointment to have Ron examined by your veterinarian.

I find that very young dogs that are spayed can get incontience. However it is not typical in older dogs no matter the method they are spayed. I would make sure a urine sample is checked for infection and crystals. If this is normal than it is possible she has developed incontience due to being spayed. Typically estrogen supplements helps the most prevent dribbling. Hope that helps

He is so cute! If you are finding that he is urinating while he is sleeping then this definitely could be incontinence. I would talk to your vet about trying Proin (aka phenylpropanolamine) to see if this helps. This helps to tighten the urethral sphincter to prevent incontinence. It is used most commonly on female dogs but I have had some success using it in males. If you are seeing puddles throughout the house, he could have a urinary tract infection. I would have your vet do a urinalysis on him to see if there is any bacteria present. Your vet will be able to prescribe him the proper antibiotics to help him feel better. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. This sounds like urinary incontinence and that it is not secondary to a UTI. This could be caused by urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI), but is less likely to occur in males and more in females. JD could have a back problem or other neurological condition leading to decreased urethral closure pressure. I would recommend a trial of a medication called PPA or DES and see if the trial helps reduce the urinary incontinence. If there is no improvement after the trial, I would recommend more diagnostics such as abdominal ultrasound, x-rays or CT scan with contrast. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. I'm so sorry to hear the Arya is not doing well. The most common side effects that we see after vaccination are sore soreness and lethargy. It sounds like Arya had a more severe reaction than that. No, fecal incontinence is very unlikely to be present. The signs you are describing are only related to the gastrointestinal infection which will need a full course of antibiotics to be cured. I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice for 4-5 days. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days.
