Why is my dog always hungry after switching to dehydrated dog food?

Do you think her body weight is appropriate? If she is underweight, she can eat more. If she is normal, you may consider putting her food in treat or puzzle toys so that it takes her longer to eat. She may also be looking for attention. Help her get in more play time or do obedience training to give her mind something to do. If she still seems really hungry, you can try feeding a weight loss food at higher amounts - they usually have more fiber so that it fills the dog up without adding extra calories.

All brands have different feeding guidelines and some dogs can differ by up to 10% from the 'normal, recommended' amount to I recommend you check the bag carefully to see how much she should be expected to need daily. Grain free food does not suit all dogs, many domestic dogs digest processed cereals quite well and some do better on these than grain free brands. Sudden diet changes can cause mild gastrointestinal upset also, so if it is not settling over 5-7days I would return to her previous or a sensitive diet formula to see if it resolves again

What about a canned or dehydrated food? Those sometimes are preferable to young dogs. The dehydrated foods are great because that are a lot like homemade food but don't require the time or effort needed. Canned foods are not bad for them either. You can start that or mix it with dry food to help encourage her to eat dry food. I hope this helps!

Try spacing out the food over three feeds a day. You can also try to add extra fiber to the food, such as bran, in order to bulk it up and make her stomach fuller. Make sure the food you are feeding (I am not familiar with it) is labeled as a complete puppy food for medium breeds. If not, I would change over to a food by a company that offers scientific formulas such as Iams. Hills, Purina ProPlan, etc. Make sure you transition slowly over about a week's time. Take Calli to your vet for a weigh-in and find out if she is a proper weight. Hunger is not necessarily correlated with not being fed enough. If she is the proper weight but keeps begging for food it is rather a behavioral thing.

I would try to very gradually mix in the dry food into her wet diet, for example each day feed a bit more kibble and less wet food. I generally advise against raw diets, as they can harbour bacteria and cause serious illness in both dogs and the people who handle the food. Try sticking to commercial kibble and wet food, with the goal of transitioning onto kibble over time. Experiment with different brands, and hopefully you will find something that she likes! If she seems at all unwell (low energy, vomiting, diarrhea), then I would worry about a medical cause for the low appetite, and recommend taking her to the vet. For example, you may add low sodium chicken broth, veterinary approved gravy which you can get at your pet store or pieces of boiled chicken to it. Good luck!

You can try adding warm water to the dry kibble, offer her canned dog food (alone or mixed with the dry food) or offer the original Pedigree diet.
