Dog has hunched back after eating cat food, vet unsure. What to do?

It sounds like Luka could be painful. Neck pain, back pain or stomach pain could make Luka reluctant to move around the house. While kitty litter or toilet paper could cause stomach pain if there was an obstruction it is not very likely unless Luka has also been vomiting. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian who can examine Luka and look for a source of pain.

It would be unlikely that he has an obstruction if he is not vomiting. He could have some gastrointestinal discomfort from a parasite, infection, or possibly eating too fast or over-eating. If it continues, have him examined by your vet to determine if there is an abnormality. Your vet can check a stool sample to look for parasites and prescribe a dewormer, if needed. Your vet can also prescribe an antacid or gastrointestinal protectant to help relieve any discomfort.

Hi and thanks for your request. This presentation seems to be due to a gastritis, which is likely to be secondary to dietary indiscretion. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitely recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.

Hello! That crouched stance is usually a sign of either back or abdominal pain, which can also cause decreased behavior. I would recommend having him get a physical exam from a veterinarian. If they are able to localize simple arthritis pain, they may be able to give him some anti-inflammatory or pain medications. If they are worried about a serious back problem or abdominal pain, they will likely recommend x-rays to look at his intestinal tract and spine and possibly bloodwork to check his major organ functions.
