Why is my 10-year-old American Bulldog growling and tail-tucked?

You need to take him to a vet for an exam. Any abnormal behavior, especially towards the side of aggression, need to be taken seriously. It very well could be a brain tumor. I don't know. It could also be the beginning stages of seizure activity. It could be from pain somewhere in/on his body. He needs a vet exam to try to find out what is going on with him.

Lola certainly sounds uncomfortable! Discomfort with movement of the tail can have a variety of causes, including spinal/vertebral pain, anal gland problems (impacted, abscessed, or simply full), urinary tract infections, etc. From your description of yelping and panting, it does sound as though Lola is painful. She should see her vet for an exam. Your vet will be able to perform a rectal exam to check her anal glands, neurologic and orthopedic exam to check her back and tail function, and even a urinalysis to check for signs of infection.

If he is chasing his tail I would recommend having his anal glands checked. Sometimes if they are full it can make dogs feel uncomfortable. If a Pit Bull's ears are not cropped they are usually always hanging a little. If he isn't acting right a veterinarian visit is warranted. If only Milo could talk! This type of behavior could be related to something like anxiety or to pain/discomfort. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who will check for evidence of pain on the physical exam. Many times this type of sudden pain is related to intervertebral disc disease, discospondylitis, upper abdominal pain or a pinched nerve. It sounds like a spinal cord injury, or it could be a growing tumor that has become large enough to cause pressure. Ant sudden, drastic change in a pet's condition needs to be assessed right away. Please bring him to the emergency vet today.

It sounds lick poor Pele could be in pain. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I hope this helps.
