Why does my 7-month toy poodle have a green lesion near its mouth?

These lesions in a puppy could be linked to a variety of skin conditions such as flea allergy, mites and mange, among others. Even though food allergy is possible, it seems less likely at this time. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these conditions to try to direct therapy at the specific cause. From the picture and your description, these lesions are likely also secondarily infected by bacteria. Most of these conditions are treatable so you will see an improvement in Sally's condition fairly quickly when treated appropriately. Good luck!

Hi there! In cases like yours it would be very helpful if you could upload a few photos. Is this possible? What you are describing sounds like pustules. This could be caused from a reaction to something, puppy pyoderma (common in young pups), etc. Likely your pup will need to see your vet for a course of antibiotics. I hope this helps!

This looks like a tumor with necrosis. without a hands-on exam , however it is not possible to tell exactly. This may also be an abscess, a cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.

Unfortunately, without physically examining the area and potentially performing some diagnostics, I can't say for sure what sort of lesion that is. At first glance, it looks like something that could have been self-induced due to a primary issue causing itchiness. You should probably schedule a veterinary appointment and in the meantime get a cone to prevent your pup come itching the area further. If you do not believe your pup is itchy, then I would be more concerned about some sort of animal bite or bacterial infection. Hope this makes sense.

These are likely two spots of superficial skin infection, likely to be caused by a bacteria. A check up, appropriate disinfection and antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. If there is a solid lump underneath them, a biopsy should be ideally taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. It doesn't look red or irritated, so it does not appear infected. I'd keep an eye on it for now. If it gets bigger, starts to bother him, or appears infected, then you need to have him seen by a vet. From the picture it actually looks more like a deep skin infection to me. This could be bacterial or fungal, or even a hypersensitivity reaction (less likely). I would recommend that she be examined by your veterinarian soon. They may look at a sample under the microscope to help determine what therapies might be most helpful.
