Is cheaper generic amoxicillin clavulanate same as Clavamox?

Yes, long term storage out of the foil would be a problem but for the short course of treatment they should be fine. I personally would use clavamox long term if it’s effective. Yes, there are less side effects. Then you can keep the clindamycin to use at some point in the future, if needed. I am not aware for a formulation of that particular medication that is made to go in the ear. I would double check with her veterinarian on Monday, but in the meantime do not apply it to the ear. Clavamox is only available in certain tablet sizes, including 125mg and 250mg. We never want to under-dose antibiotics, so we will often round up to the next best tablet size. As long as Saki is taking the antibiotic with food, GI side effects should be minimal. I hope this is helpful!

there have been no accurate studies that have been performed regarding the safety of Clavamox in lactating female dogs, but on the other hand there is also no evidence that there is any significant risk in this sort of situation. in general it is considered safe and many vets prescribe Clavamox to lactating dogs.

Hello. I would suspect that your vet wanted to start Jake on Clavamox which is a combination of Amoxicillin & Clavulanic acid. This is a very good combination & very broad acting on many types of bacterial infections. Any time we switch a pet from one anti-inflammatory to another, we do want a short wash out period so we do not cause any problems, especially stomach ulcers. I do not know why your vet is switching Jake off the Rimadyl, but there are many other drugs in this class that work very well, too. I wonder if Jake may have some slightly elevated liver values, so switching to Galliprant is often done. This medication is easier on the liver than all other pain meds.
