My dog has gastritis, painful belly, and hasn't pooped. What to do?

It sounds as Pumkin is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet Urgently, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong. Hello. You can offer Maggie 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin ( not pie filling ) twice a day. This is a very safe laxative. I am really concerned about Pumkin head, especially since she has vomited up underwear and is continuing to act ill. One of my biggest concerns is that she could have something stuck in her intestines causing a blockage or obstruction. This is a surgical emergency, because something in the intestines has the potential to cause rupture of the intestines. The best way to diagnose this is with abdominal x-rays. If there is anyone who can help you out financially, bringing her to an emergency veterinarian right away is ideal. If you absolutely cannot, please ensure she has plenty of access to water. You may try offering her small amounts of a highly digestible diet, such as boiled chicken and boiled rice. I hope this is helpful - sorry to hear that she is so sick.

There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. I would believe the most likely cause based on your description is that Poppy has a mild gastrointestinal infection or she ate something she shouldn't have. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few days I would continue to monitor Poppy at home. Here is what you can do to help her; Rest Poppy's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. I also find that boiled, mashed skinless sweet potato is helpful for diarrhoea if she develops any. If Poppy does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Poppy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian. Hello, I am sorry for your concerns for Mochi. We often recommend pumpkin to add more bulk or fiber to the diet, so I do not think it will help much in this case. You can try giving her some famotidine ( Pepcid ), 5 mg every 12 hours for a few days to see if this does not settle things down. Keep her on the bland diet of boiled chicken & white rice ( 25% chicken, 75% rice ), or a little low fat cottage cheese for a few more days, as well. Feed small, but frequent meals. Adding a probiotic cannot hurt. I like Proviable or Forti Flora. If she does not straighten out in a short time, or she starts vomiting, please see your veterinarian as soon as possible. Thank you.

Thanks for using Pet Coach! Sometimes after not eating and having severe diarrhea, it can take time for a solid stool to reach the "end of the pipes" so to speak. I would say that 4 days is on the long end of what I expect so if she does not defecate in the next 12 hours, I would recommend seeing your vet to make sure she is not constipated (which could happen with serious dehydration). I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Try adding a teaspoon of canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) to Yoyo's food to see if that helps. Also make sure he has plenty of fresh cool water to drink. If he still hasn't pooped in another 24-48 hours, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!.
