Yes, you are correct that the change in diet can cause Quincey to have this gas. It was an excellent idea to bring him to the vet for a health check, and I'm glad she said everything looked ok. I think it's also an excellent idea to feed him the Royal Canin gastro for the next few days. If that helps with his gas, I would slowly add back in his diet. As for his diet, I'd recommend going back to the Royal Canin. I'm not sure why you would switch foods, but it does seem like the new diet doesn't agree with his stomach, and unless you want to deal with a lot of farts, I'd put him back on a food that doesn't give him gas :-)

The most common reasons are bacterial imbalance issues, a poor response to the fiber in the diet or parasites. You may try switching the food. I recommend Royal Canin because it has a great fiber blend. You can start them on a probiotic - Purina FortiFlora is a great one. Hi there. I suggest you use a probiotic for Bentley. Fortiflora is my favorite but you can use any probiotic made for dogs (no human products or dairy). I would give it daily for one month to see if there are any changes. The probiotic adds "good bacteria" to his intestinal tract that may quiet the gas. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Cloey! When it comes to dog food I'm in the camp that "if it's not broken , why fix it?" So for Cloey, if she as doing well, not vomiting, diarrhea, her weight is good and she liked the Pure Balance then I think it is fine for her. It is definitely likely that changing her food abruptly has caused the diarrhea, that is a a very common cause of an upset stomach. I would feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and beef with rice until the stool is normal. Then I would put her back on her old dog food. I hope this helps and I wish Cloey the very best!

If negative, I would recommend changing her diet to something less rich. In the US, I recommend Science Diet or Purina One Smartblend. The smell is related to the food, he is probably allergic to one or more component of this food. if the gas is the only issue though, and the food did solve the other allergy symptoms, i would still recommend keeping him to the food, but as long as he is on it there isn't much you can do about this symptom.

If he is a young dog it is possible that he has a mild food allergy or an easily upset stomach (sometimes this is irritable bowl syndrome). Typically strong smelling gas in from the diet. I think slowly switching Ziggys food to maybe a different protein source of purina would help calm down or stop the gas. However, if you want to try an over the counter probiotic every day in the food and see if helping the good bacteria grow improved the gas. Do not forget to have a fecal checked for parasites just incase! hope that helps
