Why is my dog's eye irritated, darkening, and starting to close?

Hi and thank you for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach this morning! Sounds like Sascha may have an eye infection. Trauma or a viral or bacterial infection may be the cause. Sometimes ocular infections in cats are caused by the feline herpes virus which when transmitted stays in the cat's system forever. On occasion. the virus starts to replicate and this causes secondary bacterial infections of the eye. Sascha will need to be seen and treated with your vet and may be placed on antibiotics. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Ouch! This looks pretty irritated now. Ada could be having an allergic reaction to something, have chronic allergies that are starting for the season, or even have an issue with her immune system. I would recommend putting and e-collar (cone) on her tonight so that she can't rub her face and damage her eye and schedule an appointment for tomorrow with her regular vet. If she can't get comfortable this evening, or you don't have an e-collar, err on the side of caution and take her to an emergency clinic. She is likely suffering from an irritating severe eye infection, i would strongly recommend taking her to the vet ASAP in order to get her eyes checked and treated (this will require antibiotic eye drops)

It looks like Denzel's third eyelids are sticking out. For some reason, her eyes are irritated but I can't diagnose why without seeing her in person. Any eye problem should be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet now.

It looks as Sarais suffering from an eye infection, it is relatively common in dogs. you will need to take her to the vet the first chance you get, the vet will check the eyes, if it is indeed a simple eye infection your vet will prescribe an antibiotic eye drops that will probably solve the problem in no time.

I would have Sandra seen by a vet immediately. She could have allergies or an infection causing the itching. Any eyecondition should be considered an emergency, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose what is causing Sandra's eye problem so she can be treated. Please take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her ASAP.
