Why does my dog get so excited and jump on me inside Petco?

This should subside over time but one thing that may help is having any friends or family that are over to the house completely ignore Pinky until she calms down. You can even have them offer a treat and make her sit and stay to get her to calm down. This will help with the spontaneous urination due to excitation. I hope this helps! When Soska jumps on you the best way to deal with her is ignore her. I would recommend crating her when you leave that way when you walk into your home she isn't automatically jumping on you. Then you can leave her in the crate until she calms down. If that is not an option just completely ignore her (no talking to her at all) just walk past her until she calms down. When she is playing I would do the same thing. When she starts jumping on you completely ignore her and stop playing with her completely. I would recommend investing in a crate that she can stand up, sit down and turn around and nothing else. I would not put wee wee pads in there and no blankets or toys. If she does not go to the bathroom outside I would put her in the crate when you get home and then 20 minutes later try again. It seems like you need to be very strict about the defecating. Regarding the jumping on people I would recommend having a trainer come to your home to work with you and her to make it so you are able to have people at your home. There are a few things you can do, and looking up "door/greeting manners" on a site like YouTube can give you some visual examples of these training techniques. When people come over, having a leash by the door is a good idea. At the first sign of knocking or a doorbell, leash up your dogs and keep them in a sitting position. If they jump up or become too excited, have your visitor ignore them until they are able to settle back down and sit again. Once they are calmer, offering them a treat is best to teach them that calm, quiet sitting behavior is rewarded, and being excited is not. If they are jumping up on you when you get home, you can do a similar thing by ignoring them until they are calmer (even if you have to stand there for a few minutes without moving). Once they are calm, offer a treat and praise. You may need to spend a day where you take a step, wait for calm behavior, take a step, wait, etc, until they are a bit better about understanding what you are doing. As for the excitement urination, this is often something dogs grow out of, but in the meantime it is best to just ignore the pup that potties. Try not to make a big deal out of coming home (which can lead to excitement and thus urination), and instead wait until both dogs are calm to acknowledge them. If you do give your pup some attention, making sure it's on a tile floor that is easy to clean is best!

A simple solution is to crate her or to keep her in a separate area of the house when company arrives. Then let her out after everyone is settled and keep her on a leash to control any jumping. I have found it more successful though to work on obedience training. Ensure that she knows how to sit. When company walks in, ask her to sit. Again, keep her on a leash while she is learning to control the jumping. Once she sits, provide her with a very high value treat that she only gets when someone comes over. You can use a food puzzle toy, rawhide or anything that will be time consuming for her to consume. The goal is for her to anticipate the treat, sit when someone comes in and then take the treat to go enjoy by herself. Good luck!

The best advice I can give is exercise, training, and more exercise. When you walk in the door, ask Sofia to come to a certain spot, sit (or some other trick), and then reward her with a treat. If you do this every time, she will quickly learn to go to that spot every time you walk in (rather than jump and nip at you). And then take her out to run at least once daily- three times is even better. Best of luck to you and Sofia.
