Why is my dog's ear still swollen after a week of yeast treatment?

Monostat is not a good idea, it's not used in dogs as it doesn't solve ear infections caused by yeast, Yoda will need to get to the vet earlier than Monday, at this point it is urgent and requires to be treated today. by looking at the picture i am pretty sure he has an hear hematoma which means this condition is very painful and he will need either a surgery to remove the blood clots from the ear or a long treatment with steroids in order for this swelling to go down.

If it didn’t help the infection, she may have a bacteria that is resistant to the antibiotic. I recommend taking her back to the vet for a culture of the bacteria in her ear to determine what medication will treat it. Good luck and kisses to Bailey!

Although you aren’t seeing any improvement yet, continue giving the medication as previously prescribed. Sometimes it can take 2 weeks to get the infection under control. Keep in mind also that the infection may be getting better but there is still some exudate/debris in the ear. If, by the time you return from your trip, there is still no improvement, make an appointment for a recheck examination with your vet. Occasionally there are resistant infections that need special medication. Hopefully this will not be the case for Lulu. Usually, face swelling is not a commonly encountered sign of an ear infection so if his face continues to get swollen before tomorrow when you can have him evaluated by your veterinarian, consider having him evaluated tonight to make sure it is not something more concerning than an ear infection. Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your chiahuahua's ear infections. Unfortunately, ear infections can be very painful and sometimes take two to three weeks to heal. I would recommend keeping your follow up appointment with your veterinarian on Monday so that they can check his progress and determine if he is healing normally. I hope this is helpful.

From the photo, it does look like there is a slight reduction in the swelling but this seems like a slower response than expected. Keep in mind every pet is different and every pet responds differently but I recommend to call your veterinarian. Ask about sending in the photos and describe what you are seeing. It could be food related, environmental allergens, or even an allergic reaction to mites or mosquitos. Sometimes longer term treatment with the ointment, systemic medications, and mite/flea/tick prevention is needed so talk with your vet.
