Do dogs' ears feel pressure or hurt when traveling to mountains?

Flying can be very stressful, especially when flying with pets. Since Eva is so small she should be able to go in the cabin with you, under the seat. The cabin is pressurized and she will be with you. I always recommend putting a few of her favorite treats in a take off to help with the ear popping. Most of the time the animals fall asleep. Hi Rob, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Arlo has an ear hematoma. These are when the ear fills with blood and can be quite painful. A lot of time it can be secondary to an ear infection. It is important to bring Arlo to a veterinarian to have them treat this condition.

Usually a small amount of water won't cause any issues. Rarely it can lead to a minor ear infection with yeast. If you notice your dog's ear is getting red, painful, or swollen then have your veterinarian do an exam. A fever is extremely rare with ear infections.

If your vet suspected that the swelling behind the ear is from trauma and that Mila is in pain, anti-inflammatory medication would be a better choice than an antibiotic. It is very unlikely that manhandling caused trauma to the middle or inner ear but it sounds that Mila is not very well. I would suggest to contact your local vets to confirm why Mila was prescribed an antibiotic and find out if they would prescribe a pain killer for her. The other option would be taking her to a different vet. Unfortunately, human anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or naproxen are toxic and must not be used in dogs.

This looks like an aural hematoma, which is when blood and fluid builds up between the outer layer of the ear. Unfortunately this cannot be treated at home, Buddy needs to see a vet to have it treated. I'd take him into one today.

Usually, face swelling is not a commonly encountered sign of an ear infection so if his face continues to get swollen before tomorrow when you can have him evaluated by your veterinarian, consider having him evaluated tonight to make sure it is not something more concerning than an ear infection. I am sorry to hear about Dido. A photo of his ear may help us to better answer your question, to understand where the swelling of the ear is located. If it is swollen down inside he ear canal, this could be an ear infection. If the pinnae, or floppy part of the ear is swollen, this could be due to a hematoma https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951446 or pocket of blood the result of a ruptured blood vessel in the ear, due to trauma or scratching which can be secondary to an ear infection. I would recommend having your vet examine the ear to determine what treatment is needed.
