My dog is crying and shivering randomly. Is he hurting or sick?

Poor King Meza! He does sound like he isn't feeling well at the moment, but his symptoms are a little general to pinpoint a specific illness. I'm wondering if you mean that his head is shaking when you say he can't keep it still. That would be involuntary head tremors, and could be caused by an injury, toxins, inflammation, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), weakness, or pain. He might be lethargic as well. You have a couple of options in this case. You can take him into a vet right away for an exam to be safe, and I typically recommend doing that since I can't see the animal in person to say if they will be ok or not. In my opinion, it's always best to be safe and have an animal seen by a vet when there are concerns about their health. The other option is to monitor him for now. If his symptoms continue for the next couple of hours, they worsen, or he develops additional signs such as vomiting, anorexia, seizures, or any other concerning signs, I would take him into a vet right away.

There are a wide variety of health problems that can cause shaking/crying and decreased appetite. Pain or discomfort from a number of health problems could cause the shaking and crying. Decreased appetite may be due to pain or can be due to nausea from any number of health issues such as orthopedic conditions, organ dysfunction, infections, autoimmune diseases, toxins, or certain types of cancers. Due to the variety of possibilities in this case, I would highly recommend Fido be seen by his veterinarian right away for an evaluation. Whining is an attention seeking behavior and can be a sign of anxiety, pain or potentially boredom. The shaking can also be a sign of pain or anxiety. If you think he might be in pain you should see a veterinarian to see if they can localize the pain to a specific area. If you think he may be anxious it could help to try to identify what might be triggering the anxiety - some dogs have storm or noise phobias, or he might be anxious about a change in routine or environment.

A lot of terriers tend to shake and most of the time this is normal for them. However shivering can point to Prince being in pain, experiencing fear, a nervous condition, or fever or feeling cold. If this is a new occurrence and Prince does not stop shaking or shivering you should take him to a veterinarian for an exam.

Small breed dogs are prone to neck and/or back pain. The muscles lining the spine can spasm causing excruciating pain. His veterinarian will examine him carefully and direct you on treatment based on these results. It sounds like Kale is in pain. They can lose their appetite when they are in pain, so that would explain why he's not eating. The pain could be from many different things. He could have a disease, blockage, pain in his spine or even something serious like cancer. Either way, it would be good to bring him in for a veterinarian to evaluate him.
