Chihuahua has head bump & swollen mouth after playing. Is she okay?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! He is so adorable! This could have been due to a traumatic injury during the play date even if there is not an external wound present. Another possibility is that this was noted incidentally after a play date and this is actually something unrelated such as due to dental disease or even a growth underneath those tissues. I recommend you keep an eye on it for now. If it is just swelling from a traumatic injury, it may improve on its own. However, it may not improve on its own and need further therapy. If it is something else, it will probably continue to be present or worsen over time. If it does not improve or it worsens in the next week, I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

She may have cut or scraped the inside of her mouth and may even have a piece to the stick stuck in there. Try to get a look in her mouth without struggling with her too much and making her afraid. If you see something and you can get to it, try to get it out but don't get yourself bitten. If her swelling doesn't improve or gets worse by tomorrow, get her in to see your vet as soon as you can so her mouth doesn't get infected.

You are right, it could be an insect bite. If it's daytime where you are, I would take Shiloh into a vet now. If it's nighttime, you can wait until the morning, but rush him into an ER vet if his face starts swelling more, he gets hives, or have trouble breathing. I hope this helps!

Ouch, poor Ruthie! It could take from a week to two weeks for the bump to go down fully. Keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't go down or gets bigger, I would take her into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Dutch may have injured his nose. I'd keep an eye on it tonight and if it doesn't go away, gets bigger, or starts to bother him, have him seen by a vet. If it affects his breathing, get him into a vet immediately.

Poor Rinko! I would have this checked out by a vet in the morning. I'm concerned that her gums are swollen and her snout is puffy. This is likely painful to her, and you cannot give her any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. The vet can give her pain medications as needed. If these lumps have suddenly appeared then it may be an allergic reaction to a sting or such. If so t should settle down within 48 hours. However it would be worth going to the vet to ensure she is okay and that it is nothing else such as infection or masses. Even if it is just allergic reaction they can usually give an injection to help it settle faster.
