Why is my dog chewing walls and peeing indoors after walks?

Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach! Potty training can be a difficult and frustrating challenge. I find that using puppy pee pads does not work the best. I have recommended using a product called FreshPatch. I find this works much more effectively than puppy pee pads. For more tips on potty training, check out this article below for more good tips. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. https://www.petcoach.co/article/top-5-tips-to-potty-train-your-dog-young-and-old/

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sophie. Based on what you have described, she needs to see her veterinarian. She could have a urinary tract infection or even diabetes causing her to have accidents on the house. Both of these could cause a decrease in energy. Straining to defecate can be a sign of constipation or diarrhea. Diabetes is usually signaled by a dramatic increase in thirst. She will likely need her urine tested and possibly bIoodwork. I hope this information helps!

Hello Diane. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You didn't mention if this was a new problem or a lifelong problem. Has she ever been completely housebroken? If this is a relatively new problem, Nikki may have an underlying medical condition - like a urinary tract infection. I suggest you have her examined by your vet and have a urine test done to check for infection or other underlying medical problem. If you can rule out a medical problem then you can assume it is behavioral, in which case, you should consult with a professional, in-home dog trainer. It is very hard to potty train a dog this age without professional help.

Have Sophie examined by your veterinarian. A sterile urine sample should be collected and submitted for urinalysis and culture. Blood work can assess major organ function, especially kidney function. Provide an additional litter box where she is urinating. Use a litterbox attractant to entice her back into the boxes. A pheromone product such as Feliway spray or plug in diffuser may decrease any anxiety.

She may have a urinary infection that causes her to have accidents due to not being able to hold it as Kong. She may be doing this out of stress or anxiety or something has changed in her environment or routine. Depending on where she is in her heat cycle it may be due to marking and territorial problems influenced by hormones The best place to start is gave your vet check for infection with the urine then look in to getting her fixed. From there you can look into repeating house training or behavioral medicines

Poor Ruby! I'm sorry to hear that she's having this problem. Housetraining accidents and destructive behavior that only occurs when you're not around are very common signs of separation anxiety in dogs. This is a difficult problem to treat effectively and one that nearly always requires professional help, so I would recommend getting in touch with a veterinary behaviorist who can evaluate Ruby in person. He/she can help you put together a treatment plan to address her anxiety, which will likely include medication as well as a training plan to help her learn to be more comfortable by herself. If Jewel is urinating in the house I would recommend bringing her into a veterinarian and have them check a urine sample on her. She may have a urinary tract infection. If she is defecating in the house and it is normal this can be behavioral and I would consider checking a stool sample and crating her until she goes outside again. If it is diarrhea then I would recommend checking a stool sample, putting her on a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice and if it doesn't resolve discussed probiotics and medication with your veterinarian.
