Why does my dog always carry a paper plate in his mouth? Is it normal?

This is a very common problem, especially for puppies and young dogs - they just seem to enjoy ripping up and eating paper. This is not normally a sign of any kind of dietary deficiency or health problem, just something that they do for fun :) I would try and keep paper products put away out of her reach, since ingesting a large amount of paper could potentially cause some stomach upset or even an obstruction.

Many times this is a sign of contentment or self soothing. It can also be an attempt at mutual grooming. In general, as long as she is not being destructive, the behavior is nothing to worry about. I hope this helps.

It's very normal for young dogs to pick up objects, carry them around, and sometimes even chew or eat them - this is how they explore the world :) At 19 months old, Rayne is still a puppy in many ways. Many large breed dogs aren't fully mature until 2-3 years of age, so it's normal that she still has some puppy habits like this. I would continue to crate her when she can't be supervised, and make sure that she has plenty of toys and chew items to provide an appropriate outlet for this behavior. Most dogs do eventually grow out of this, but you will need to be patient and continue to manage her carefully in the meantime.

It would be hard to say why he is doing this. Many dogs do though and are chewers, or get in to trash for paper or Kleenex, etc. If he is doing those things, make sure he is confined to one room and keep those things out of reach. Crate train him of necessary

Young dogs can be very oral and want to chew and play with things. Sometimes dogs develop “favorite” things to chew on. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to immediately stop him. However, frequently changing toys, keeping paper products out of his reach, maybe teaching him to only pick up something to chew or ear if given the release word. This takes time, patience, and repetition, but it can be done. I would also recommend blood work to verify that nothing else abnormal is going on, but likely it is behavioral. Bleu maybe rubbing his face on his treats due to excitement, to mark his scent on the food, in the wild dogs do this to tell others in their pack where the food is, it could be a form of resource guarding or simply because he just is so happy and loves treats! What he's doing is probably instinctively trying to cover his food. Some dogs exhibit this behavior, which is perfectly normal. If you put down a paper towel, he may try to use that to cover his food.
