Why can't my dog stand after convulsions and suspected poisoning?

Pokey sounds very ill and needs immediate veterinary treatment. This could be from poison or more likely an infection, metabolic problem or cancer. She definitely needs IV fluids to prevent dehydration which can become life threatening. In general with most poisons they would die quickly. Since this has been going on for a few days there is a good chance with proper treatment she could recover quickly. I’m so sorry to hear about Rooney. If the spitting up is happening after a cough, this could be a terminal retch (they cough so hard they gag/spit up). In this case, I’d call the vet and ask for a cough suppressant to calm the coughing. You can send a video clip to experts@Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.co if you are still worried. Main warning signs for me are difficulty breathing, if the amount or sound of the coughing changes, if Rooney stops eating, or becomes very lethargic. If see a vet pronto if any of those occur. Oh dear! I'm afraid this sounds like a serious problem. If Oreo seems paralyzed on one side, cannot stand up, and is not eating, he needs to be taken to an emergency clinic right away to be seen. He may have sustained some type of head trauma or ingested something toxic, or may have a serious neurologic disease such as meningitis or encephalomyelitis. The ER veterinarian can do a complete neurologic exam to help determine what is causing his symptoms, and may also recommend blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem so he can be started on appropriate treatment.

If he is unable to stand, this may be a sign of an injury such as a fractured bone, or it could be neurological, such as a slipped disc in his spine or a head injury. Was there any trauma that occurred shortly before these symptoms appeared? In any case, this sounds serious and I would get him seen at a vet right away. In the meantime, try to protect him from injuring himself by giving him a soft bed to lie on and padding around him, and provide his food and water close by. That sounds serious! Even though yournone dog seems okay now I would recommend taking her to a vet right away - she may have had a seizure or have heart disease or low blood sugar. While there are toxins that can cause vomiting and toxins that can cause neurologic symptoms like loss of consciousness it is not very likely that someone is deliberately poisoning your dogs without your knowledge. I’d recommend seeing a veterinarian to have both dogs evaluated.

Certainly sounds like Tony is experiencing some sort of neurologic episode. While a toxin can definitely cause sudden neurological symptoms, so can inflammatory and infectious conditions, trauma, and some circulatory issues. Though Tony sounds pretty stable, I would not hesitate long in taking him to the veterinarian. There may be other clinical signs that are less obvious to you that require intervention. Difficulty walk or standing, also known as ataxia, is definitely a cause for concern. This may be caused by neurological issues or a toxin. Xhesi should be seen by a vet immediately to determine the cause and be stabilized if necessary.
