My dog was inseminated. How do I calculate her gestation days?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sadly we can not estimate how far along Snowy is by pictures. Dogs are only pregnant for 60-63 days. By day 28 you can see puppies on ultrasound and by day 50 you can see them on X-ray. I have personally never seen a dog miscarry from stress. If she doesn't give birth by 70 days from when you got your dog neutered you need to bring her to the Vet to confirm pregnancy or whether she is experiencing a false pregnancy. To determine pregnancy in dogs, sometimes the sacs can be palpated as small tennis ball like objects, starting at about 28 days - however this is variable. Ultrasound starting at day 28, and x-rays at day 45. Human pregnancy tests are NOT reliable. Best of luck with Daisy!

Dogs have the same gestation period no matter what their size or the litter size. Average is 63-65 days. There is no way to know if she will deliver early, late or on time. You will just need to monitor for signs of impeding delivery as that will give you the best idea as to when to expect the puppies. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hello, It is not possible to tell if a dog has had sex. The vulva, or external female genitalia, experiences normal swelling during the heat cycle. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Millie. If you know when she may have been bred, I would schedule an appointment with her veterinarian for 45-50 days after that date. At this stage of gestation, if she is pregnant, puppies will be visible on an x-ray. This will confirm the pregnancy as well as give you an idea of how many puppies she is expecting. This will be extremely helpful knowledge while she is in labor. You will know when she is done or if she is struggling, you know more puppies are coming and to seek help. In the meantime, feed her a high quality puppy food to supply her with extra calories and nutrition. I hope this information helps!

Unless you know exactly when she ovulated with LH hormone data, you don't really know when she is due. Don't panic. I have people count approximately 63 days from the time of the tie. Sperm can live a week or more in the bitch so even with a tie date you really don't know when she is due, so try to relax, and watch for signs of impeding labor (nesting, milk production, drop in temp, etc.).
