My 11-year-old Chihuahua is bleeding, black stool, won't eat. Help!

Oh no, poor Pixee! It's very concerning that she is passing feces that have blood in it. If she is pooping a lot, she could have diarrhea. She really needs to see a vet as soon as possible because blood in the feces can have some very serious causes including eating something toxic, a foreign body, trauma to the GI tract, or GI tumors. I would take Pixee into a vet immediately to diagnose the cause of her bloody feces and the vet can discuss treatment options.

All of this can be normally seen with a dog in heat, except for the blood coming from the anus. If you are certain that blood is oozing from her anus, then I would be much more concerned and would recommend a visit to the vet in the next 24 hours. Bleeding from the colon/rectum can indicate a severe infection and it's best to get these treated as soon as possible to avoid life-threatening complications such as amemia. I would first make sure that the blood is in-fact coming from her anus. One way to tell is if there is blood in her stool. If she's having normal stool with no blood, then it's not likely that the blood is truly coming from her anus. A decrease in activity and in appetite can happen when they are in heat, so if she is otherwise normal, then I wouldn't be too worried. Good that the full workup last week was normal. Isabella may be straining to pass hard stool, and I'd recommend adding a bit of fiber like pumpkin to her diet, or ask your vet for a stool softener. She may be straining so hard that she is causing bleeding in her little anus area, or her anal glands could have some bloody discharge. If she is eating and drinking and not acting painful this is a good sign that nothing major is going on. I like Royal Canin Fiber diet for these issues as a long-term diet.

Chunk may have a bleeding ulcer in his mouth or throat, or a severe tooth infection. He is obviously swallowing blood which then gets digested and shows up in the feces (tarry black). You will need to take Chunk to your vet for an exam of the mouth and throat. Once the cause of the bleed is found it needs to be stopped, which could mean a dental cleaning with extractions of an abscessed tooth or other measures depending on where he is bleeding from.
