My dog has a back injury. Is her immobility from pain meds?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

My dog had a back injury yesterday and is taking two kinds of pain medication. Today, she has gotten increasingly immobile. Of course she is on bed rest, but she was struggling to stand and could not carry her hind weight. Then she lost the ability to even sit up. Could this be an effect of pain medication?

Poor Rosey! I would be concerned this is a result of the back injury, as the pain medication should make her more comfortable. It's quite serious that she can't even sit up now, and I would take her back into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
