My dog ate chicken wings. Should I worry about mucus in her poop?

For the most part I recommend monitoring after chicken bone ingestion - while sometimes they can become lodged in the esophagus or the intestines, and they can also cause stomach upset, the majority of the time they don't cause any symptoms at all. Most dogs chew them into small pieces before ingesting them. If Neveah vomits, has a decrease in appetite, or develops diarrhea contact your vet right away.

This is a fairly common problem, unfortunately - dogs are good at getting into things that they shouldn't eat! I would expect that Charlie may have some mild GI upset for the next day or two (mild vomiting or diarrhea) - as long as he's active and eating and drinking normally, I wouldn't necessarily worry. There is a small chance that the bones could cause a blockage or an intestinal perforation - this is not common in my experience, but something to watch out for. Some dogs may also get serious illnesses like pancreatitis as a result of eating greasy "people food" like chicken wings. I would monitor Charlie closely for the next 24-48 hours - if he stops eating, has repeated episodes of vomiting, or diarrhea with blood in it then I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away in case of a serious problem.

Since she did eat chicken and is not vomiting, waiting to see how her night goes is very reasonable. If you notice any bloody diarrhea or she persistently vomits tonight, then I would get her seen tonight.

Mucous covered stool can be normal in dogs, but if Chick Pea is going to the bathroom more than normal, it could be she is suffering from a little GI upset. It's good that her feces is solid and the volume is normal. Based on these symptoms you are describing, I'm not reading anything too concerning at the moment, so I would keep an eye on her for now. Should Chick Pea's feces become diarrhea, she stops eating, she becomes lethargic, or develops other signs such as vomiting, then I would have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps :-)

As long as Aurora is eating, drinking, and acting normally without any significant coughing or sneezing, I would not be overly concerned about a bit of mucus in her stool or a mild running nose. If the mucus becomes a recurrent issue, it would be worth having her evaluated by the vet to assure that she doesn't have intestinal parasites or other concerns. If the runny nose worsens or if the discharge becomes yellow, green, or bloody, she would also need veterinary attention. Not to worry! On a side note, I would not recommend taking Aurora for walks around the neighborhood where she has access to any areas where other dogs have been previously until she has finished her vaccine series (over 16 weeks of age). She could acquire parvovirus, which is a serious gastrointestinal virus, from exposure to areas where infected dogs may have previously walked since this virus lives in the soil for years.
