My dog ate a burr and is gagging. Should I let her eat grass to vomit?

He may also have some grass or another foreign object lodged in his esophagus. If this is a new thing then it may be that Izzy does have an upset stomach. If Izzy has always done this I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it is new then I would monitor and if any other symptoms develop bring Izzy to a veterinarian. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I would give it a few minutes to see if it settles down. But if he continues to drool or cough Lou may have a foreign body stuck in the back of his mouth or his throat, and I would recommend a veterinary visit today. If it seems to go away then it may have just been transient, or a small piece of grass or something he's able to dislodge on his own. I am sorry Dozer threw up last night. Grass can definitely upset his stomach. I would make sure he doesn't eat anymore of it. As long as he is energetic and otherwise normal I wouldn't worry too much about a one time throw up. If this continues then I would recommend bringing him to a veterinarian. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry Bobo is sick! Bloody flecks usually indicates that the stomach lining is ulcerated. It can be from all the common reasons for vomiting: ate something gross, food sensitivity, viral or bacterial infection, pancreatitis, toxins, metabolic isssues or drug reaction. Try fasting her for 12-24 hrs then feed as "sip and nibble" of water and bland diet. Try boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. About 3/4 cup per day. If she continues to vomit while fasted or once you start feeding you should take her to the Vet. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Keep an eye on his stools - you may be seeing some diarrhea in the next day or two. I recommend feeding him small amounts of bland food today (white rice and boiled lowfat chicken). If you see any further vomiting, if his appetite decreases, or if diarrhea shows up, then I recommend bringing him in to the vet to be evaluated.
