Why is my dog anxious and chipped a tooth after her vet visit?

Anxiety can lead to aggression, and it may be Skye's anxiety has gotten so great that she is now acting aggressive. I'd have her seen by a vet for this to discuss putting her on anti-anxiety medication.

I'm sorry to hear that! If its a large cheek tooth, or a canine tooth, try to get her in sooner than Saturday if at all possible. If its an incisor (one of the small teeth in the front) its probably fine to wait that long. In the meantime, offer her soft food, or moisten her dry food with water or chicken broth. You can use a dog oral rinse if you want to be proactive about it, but I don't think its entirely necessary. Whether or not specific treatment will be needed depends on what tooth it was and the extent of damage at the gumline. If there is a concern that the root fractured, or if the defect is quite large, surgery may be needed. If she seems to be painful or isn't eating anything, take her in as soon as you can. Hello, I would recommend having your vet check your dog, it could certainly be behavioral but it could also be something medical going on by your description, such as an infection or a rash. Your vet will start with a good physical exam and be able to get some answers for you.

Based on your description I would suspect this is due to pain and that the pain is not being controlled well with the medications you are giving. The UK is a Rabies free country so this is less likely to be Rabies, however, not completely out of the realm of possibilities. If she is afraid of water especially ans becoming aggressive these would be red flags and I would have her examined immediately. If she is attacking anyone, I would call the police to come and get her so thst you are not injured as rabies can transmit to humans and be fatal. For now, I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to discuss more options for controlling the pain better. For now, I would keep the dogs isolated from one another and monitor for now. I would recommend that you do, especially if you are in an area that has a high incidence of rabies. That being said, I am not a human doctor and you should be consulting with your personal doctor. Based on your description of Gus's encounter with the new puppy I would not be concerned about Rabies. This was most likely related to the excitement of the encounter. You mentioned Gus is current on his Rabies vaccination so there should not be a huge concern here. However, if you want to be certain about Gus you can have him examined by your veterinarian if his behavior continues to be abnormal and if needed the doctor can actually check Gus's rabies titer (a blood sample) and send it out to the lab.
