Is my dog's aggressive leg tumor caused by household cleaners?

Tucker likely has a localized infection or perhaps a skin tumor. The good news is that its most likely benign. Rarely, young dogs can get a malignant tumor called a mast cell tumor so I would recommend to have the area examined by a veterinarian to be sure. The doctor may recommend to take a small sample of cells to make sure its nothing to be concerned about.

It is great news that the tumor removed had clean margins! This means it is much less likely to come back in the future. Tumors are graded on how many abnormal or cancer-type cells are seen when examining the biopsy under a microscope. Grading can be different for all the tumor types, but for most tumors a grade of 2 is only moderate in severity. This means the tumor has a chance of spreading but it is not very likely. Your vet probably recommended you visit an l oncologist just to be thorough. Oncologist have a lot more up-to-date information on cancer treatments and staging then regular practitioners do. No, in most cases this would not be effective at all and would only increase the risk of infection and other complications. Surgical removal would likely be the best option, if this is feasible given the size and location of the mass.

Hello. I am sorry your dog has some tumors. If your dog has tumors on the inside of the legs, it depends on what types of tumors if it will cause pain or not. I recommend having your dog seen by a vet to assess the tumors, as they may need to be surgically removed, or there may be medications that can help. That is a very large tumor that has likely outgrown its blood supply and is opening up. You can’t tell what type of tumor it is without aspirating the cells. At this point, the best option is to remove the tumor but it’s so large that this may be difficult but not impossible. I'm sorry to hear this is happening. Unfortunately, bone cancer tends to be aggressive. I would recommend first having radiographs done to verify that a tumor is present. If there is in fact bone cancer, talk to her vet to see if surgery makes sense. Many times these tumors have already spread by the time clinical signs show up. The lump could have other origins as well so the first step is to find out what it is. I hope this helps!

Non-ractive warts and other growths which do not cause the dog to chew on them are usually not of concern provided they do not grow, or grow very slowly and are not oozing a discharge, bleeding or causing infection. That said, every growth should be examined by a veterinarian, as it could indeed be malignant. Previously benign masses can also turn into malignant masses. As for cancer cells spreading in the body from being ingested: that would depend on the cancer. If the mass is cancerous and just in the skin, it is likely that removing it with a good margin (healthy tissue surrounding it) may be curative. Your veterinarian will have to examine the mass and palpate it and may want to remove it right away, or do a fine needle aspirate to determine whether it is indeed a cancer. Since it is bothering your dog and Nisha is chewing it , there is a chance that it could get infected, another reason to have it examined ASAP.
